Beauty Status Flow of the Month continues with October winner

November 2, 2017

As we dive into the meat of the 2017-18 hockey season, we take time out once a month to continue the time-honored tradition known as the NAHL Flow of the Month.

This year, we are excited to announce that the new sponsor of the Flow of the Month is Beauty Status Hockey Co. On September 13th, Beauty Status was named as the Official Hockey Apparel Company of the NAHL for the 2017-18 season.

Players, old and new, have started the season with some great flow.  A reminder on how this all works if you are new to the Flow of the Month scene…

Players in the NAHL and NA3HL are encouraged to submit photos of their best ‘hockey hair’ or ‘flow’ via social media or email by the end of every month during the regular season. The winners will receive a Beauty Status hat.

The winner for October is Metro Jets forward Kristian Alafriz.

There is a lot to get to here regarding Alafriz’s flow, but first, let’s get to know the player… Alafriz, 20, is in his second and final season playing junior hockey in the NA3HL, which has been all with the Metro Jets. The 5’11/165 lbs. native of Macomb, Michigan, has appeared in 13 games so far this season for the 1st place Jets and he has recorded 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists). Last season, Alafriz was a part of the Jets team that went undefeated during the regular season with a perfect 47-0 record. In 32 games played in 2016-17, he recorded 20 points.

Now to Alafriz’s flow, and a question… is this arguably one of the best flows we have seen in the six years of doing the #flowofthemonth campaign? I mean, look at this thing! This has all the makings of a #flowofthemonth hall of fame candidate. First, the length on Alafriz’s salad is incredible and bordering on heavy metal status. Can he score and set up goals and go into the corners? Sure thing! Can he crank some tunes and headbang in a free-for-all? No problem? Then, to top things off, his submission picture is complete with black eye, bruised cheek bone and nice smirk, just letting us know he means business. So when someone asks what makes great hockey flow, look no further than Kristian Alafriz, who is a perfect example of how it should be done. Bravo and rock on!
