Ducks edge Drillers on Thursday, 4-3
Point Mallard 4 @ Louisiana 3 – Six combined goals in the 3rd period highlighted a back and forth game on Thursday between Point Mallard and Louisiana, with the Ducks fighting off a comeback from the Drillers in a 4-3 win. Point Mallard snagged the early lead with a 1st period goal from Nathan Weinland. After a scoreless 2nd period, things ramped up in the 3rd period as the Ducks took a 3-0 lead with two goals in the opening four minutes of the final frame thanks to goals from Fletcher Chun and Tyler Trombly. The Drillers answered with a goal from Evan Hale to make it 3-1, but the Ducks would regain their three-goal lead thanks to Trombly’s second goal of the night and 6th goal of the season. The Drillers made things interesting in the 3rd period with another goal from Hale and their third goal from Brandon Vukasin, but could not find the equalizer in the final minutes. Ducks goalie Chris O’Shaughnessy made 33 saves in the win, while Drillers goalie Christian Kazoleas made 38 saves in the loss. Boxscore
