NA3HL announces Bauer Divisional Stars of the Week

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending November 5, 2017. The divisional stars of the week is an award given each week of the regular season to the top performing players in each of the eight divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

 

Central Division Star of the Week: Nick Rogers, Forward, Wisconsin Whalers

One of the hottest players in the league continued his point streak this past weekend as the Dubuque, Iowa native now has points in each of his last six games. On Friday night, the Wisconsin forward found the back of the net twice and added a pair of assists in a 8-1 victory over Rochester. Rogers upped the ante on Saturday night, notching a hat trick and getting another assist in another Whalers win. Rogers finished the weekend with a plus-6 rating.

2nd Star: Colin Cain, G, North Iowa Bulls

Coastal Division Star of the Week: Austin Braley, Forward, Northeast Generals

Two three point games propelled Austin Braley to star of the week honors for the Coastal Division. In Saturday’s game against Roc City, Braley scored once and had two assists. Then on Sunday, Braley added two more goals and another assist in the Generals second win of the weekend. The native of Bourne, Massachusetts ended the weekend with a plus-4 rating.

East Division Star of the Week: Anthony Cinato, Forward, Metro Jets

The 17-year old Metro forward continued his great play this weekend and increased his point streak to five games. In his team’s first game of the weekend against Southern Tier, Cinato contributed two assists to go with a plus-1 rating. On Saturday, he found the back of the net for the fifth time this season. The Warren, Michigan native now has 13 points in 12 games played this season.

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Andrew Kormos, G, Metro Jets – Nathaniel Schwartz, F, Pittsburgh Vengeance

 

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Jarrett Scheibel, Forward, Helena Bighorns

Scheibel, 20, pushed his goal scoring streak to three games as he found the back of the net in both games this weekend. He scored a goal and assisted on another in a 6-5 shootout victory over Gillette. The following night, Scheibel scored the only goal in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Wild. For the weekend, Scheibel had a plus-2 rating.

Midwest Division Star of the Week: Ian McHenrey, Forward, Peoria Mustangs

The 17-year old had his best weekend of the season as he scored a pair of goals and also picked up a couple assists in a weekend split with Evansville. Both of McHenrey’s goals came on the power play Sunday afternoon. Through 14 games this season, McHenrey now has eight goals and two assists.

Northeast Division Star of the Week: Hunter Johnson, Forward, Jersey Shore Wildcats

Thanks to points in all three games this weekend, Hunter Johnson’s point streak has now reached 10 games. Friday night was his best performance as he scored a goal and had four assists. He also finished that game plus-5. On Saturday, he scored what eventually became the game winning goal and notched another assist. To close out the weekend on Sunday, Johnson scored his third goal of the weekend and finished as a plus-2.

South Division Star of the Week: Mason Evans, Forward, Point Mallard Ducks

It was a busy weekend for Mason Evans and the rest of the Point Mallard Ducks. They had four games this weekend and Evans had points in all four games. On Thursday, Evans had one assist in a 4-3 win over Louisiana. The following night, Evans scored two goals and assisted on another in a 3-0 win for the Ducks. After a trip down to College Station, the Danville, California native had a goal and an assist in another Point Mallard win. On the final day of their long weekend, the 17-year old notched another assist in yet another Ducks victory. For the weekend, Evans finished with a plus-4 rating.

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Matt Goodman, D, Point Mallard Ducks – Bryce Harrison, D, Mid Cities Jr. Stars – Robert Seger, F, Texas Brahmas – Connor Simpson, F, Mid Cities Jr. Stars

 

West Division Star of the Week: Max Kjome, Defense, New Ulm Steel

The 20-year old defenseman from Minneapolis, Minnesota scored his first goal of the season in a 5-2 win over the Willmar Warhawks on Saturday night. Kjome also added two assists to finish the night with three points. For the weekend, Kjome had a plus-3 rating. The defenseman now has a goal and four assists in 11 games this season for the Steel.

2nd Star: Ridge Gerads, G, Granite City Lumberjacks

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Kirk Coppock, F, New Ulm Steel – Jordan Olson, D, Granite City Lumberjacks
