Friday Finals: Vengeance stay hot with 10th straight win

The New Ulm Steel beat the Rochester Ice Hawks on Friday, 6-4.

Rochester Ice Hawks 4 @ New Ulm Steel 6 - The New Ulm Steel scored four second period goals on their way to a 6-4 win over the Rochester Ice Hawks. Luc Kreuser, Alex Nagel, Ryan Smith (2), Max Kjome, and Steven Mordini scored for the Steel, while Matthew Shupert, Zach Curr, Alex Tarr, and Drew Westphal found the back of the net for the Ice Hawks. New Ulm’s Ryan Beilenberg stopped 25 shots, while Luke Murphy and Drew Schenkenberg stopped 26 and 12 shots for Rochester.

Atlanta Capitals 4 @ Point Mallard Ducks 3 (SO) - A pair of goals from Capitals Dillon Steh helped send the game into overtime, and eventually a shootout, where Ayrton Cornic and Jason Ladzinski found the back of the net for the Capitals, resulting in a 4-3 victory in their favor. Cameron Smith also scored for the Capitals in regulation, and Tyler Trombly, Jesse Stepp and Matt Goodman notched regulation goals for the Ducks. Stepp also notched one for the Ducks in the shootout. Atlantas Kyle Konin made 27 saves, while Chris OShaughnessy stopped 30 shots for Point Mallard.

Binghamton Junior Senators 6 @ Jersey Shore Wildcats 1 - A strong offensive presence in the second helped the Binghamton Junior Senators to a 6-1 win over the Jersey Shore Wildcats. Michael Padgeon, Brad Becker, Eric Melso (2), Ryan Reifler, and Hunter Kepple scored for the Senators, while Zack Mullen notched one for Jersey Shore. Binghamtons Brady Anderson made 18 saves on the night, and Nick Anastasia and Nick Sesock stopped 6 and 7 shots, respectively, for the Wildcats.

Cape Cod Islanders 2 @ L/A Nordiques 5 - The L/A Nordiques held onto an early lead to finish on top 5-2 against the Cape Cod Islanders. Donovan Tehan, Sam Frechette, Shayne Plummer, Joshua Malone, and JP Chauvin scored for the Nordiques, and Mathieu Auclair and Leevi Kervinen found the back of the net for the Islanders. L/As Michael Errico stopped 18 shots on the night, while Esa Maki made 31 saves for Cape Cod.

Pittsburgh Vengeance 5 @ Southern Tier Xpress 1 - The Southern Tier Xpress scored first, but five subsequent goals from the Pittsburgh Vengeance came out on top, 5-1. Dominick Glavach (2) and Austin Martz (2), and James Unger got on the scoreboard for the Vengeance, while Harry Payne notched one for the Xpress. Pittsburghs Tyler Hawk made 20 saves, while Ryan Pascarella stopped 42 shots for Southern Tier.

Metro Jets 7 @ Toledo Cherokee 4 - The Metro Jets scored four goals in the third period to secure their 7-4 victory over the Toledo Cherokee. Jeremy Schwartz (2), Rhett Limback, Connor Inger, Joey Bruce, Brandon Graham, and George Hansen scored for the Jets, while Tristin Snyder (2), Ben Farley, and Spencer Sandberg got on the scoreboard for the Cherokee. Metros Brian Tallieu made 24 saves, while Ricardo Gonzalez stopped 64 shots for Toledo.

Roc City Royals 2 @ Oswego Stampede 3 - A goal in each period for the Oswego Stampede lead them to a 3-2 win over the Roc City Royals. Eddie Cannon, Will Walker, and Tommy Kilway scored for the Stampede, while Spencer Norris notched both Royals goals. In net, Oswegos Steven Kozikoski stopped 36 shots, while Shane Phillips made 41 saves for Roc City.

Peoria Mustangs 5 @ Wisconsin Whalers 6 (SO) - Dan Lienemann and Brandon Onstott both scored in a shootout for the Wisconsin Whalers, earning them the 2 points in a 6-5 win over the Peoria Mustangs. Carter Grobstick, Nick Rogers, Lienemann (2), and Jimmy McDermott scored in regulation for the Whalers, while Braden Stewart, Ian McHenrey, Jack Radley (2) and Austin Keil scored in regulation for the Mustangs. Additionally, Jack Healy scored in the shootout for the Mustangs. In net, Whalers’ goaltender Brendan Earls made 49 saves, while Jaden Gardner stopped 48 shots for Peoria.

La Crosse Freeze 6 @ Wausau RiverWolves 4 - Three goals in the third period helped the La Crosse Freeze secure a 6-4 win over the Wausau RiverWolves. Kellen Menzies (3), Caleb Becersdorf, Brady Lindauer, and Toon De Schepper scored for the Freeze, while Matt Irwin (2), Devin Hutberg, and Sean Johnston found the back of the net for the RiverWolves. La Crosse’s Koby Lukehart made 15 saves, while Jackson Fazendin stopped 21 shots for Wausau.

Long Beach Sharks 3 @ Northeast Generals 17 - The Northeast Generals more than doubled their goals in the third period, defeating the Long Beach Sharks, 17-3. Fedor Lopaev (2), Austin Braley (3), John Lockhead, Kenny Lockhead (4), Alex O’Dowd, Brian Shea (2), Marc Faia, Jacob Kelly, Davis Kisielis, and Stephen Toal scored for the Generals, and CJ Smith, Michael Giordano, and Mike Goroshko each notched one for the Sharks. Northeast’s Lucas Souza made 20 saves on the night, while Ryan Cortez and Ben Vutci stopped 37 and 27 shots, respectively, for Long Beach.

Granite City Lumberjacks 1 @ North Iowa Bulls 4 - A pair of goals from Josh Arnold helped the North Iowa Bulls defeat the Granite City Lumberjacks, 4-1. Cameron Fagerlee and Connor Clemons also scored for the Bulls, while Chase DiBari notched one for the Lumberjacks. North Iowa’s Colin Cain made 23 saves, while Ridge Gerads stopped 24 shots for Granite City.

Willmar WarHawks 5 @ Breezy Point North Stars 2 - The Willmar WarHawks scored three goals in the first two periods to help them to a 5-2 win over the Breezy Point North Stars. Brandon Holt, Jordan Cooper, Max Oelkers, Andrew Gilbert, and Braden Shea scored for the WarHawks, while AJ Hoyt and Josh Maucieri found the back of the net for the North Stars. Willmar’s Luke Fry made 39 saves on the night, while Lucas Ehrlich stopped 23 shots for Breezy Point.

Bozeman Icedogs 0 @ Gillette Wild 4 - Gillette Wild’s Cody Grogan made 14 saves to help the team to a 4-0 shutout win over the Bozeman Icedogs. Nick Stockert (2), Hunter Peterson, and Derek Scoggins scored for the Wild. Parker Orchard stopped 30 shots for the Icedogs.

Great Falls Americans 3 @ Helena Bighorns 2 - The Great Falls Americans grabbed an early lead on their way to a 3-2 win over the Helena Bighorns. Kody Thomas, Payton McSharry, and Cody Dearing found the back of the net for the Americans, while Luc Cross and Gavin Cline notched goals for the Bighorns. Great Falls Bryan Sharp made 23 saves on the night, while Nick Battaglia stopped 38 shots for Helena.

Yellowstone Quake 5 @ Missoula Junior Bruins 2 - The Yellowstone Quake grabbed an early lead on their way to a 5-2 win over the Missoula Junior Bruins. Justin Dumont, Ian Doner (2), Kobe Kitagawa, and Carter Johnson scored for the Quake, while Ryley Cook and Misha Akatnov found the back of the net for the Junior Bruins. In net, Yellowstone’s Reid Waszczenko stopped 44 shots, while Brian Thomas made 31 saves for Missoula.

College Station Spirit 0 @ Mid Cities Jr Stars 6 - Mid Cities Jr Stars’ goaltender Jake Ange made 10 saves on the way to a 6-0 win over the College Station Spirit. Mason Martin, Conor Simpson, Nick Sheridan, Tyler Schultz, Matt Hutton, and Brandon Speights scored for the Jr Stars. Drew Pehrson made 50 saves for the Spirit.
