Texas forward Weycker makes NCAA commitment
April 19, 2018
The Texas Brahmas of the NA3HL are pleased to announce forward Bennett Weycker has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Morrisville State College for the 2018-19 season.
Spending three seasons with the Brahmas, the Wisconsin forward capped off his junior career with his best year to date. Netting 17 goals and 28 assists over the course of 44 games, Weycker finished fifth on the team in scoring and certainly made it known when he was on the ice.
"In the past three seasons with us, Bennett has grown as a player and a teammate. He’s a player that was willing to buy in to any role that was given to him," Head Coach Michael Hill said. "He was our biggest hitter and his type of game enabled him to be very effective for us. We are so proud of him for choosing Morrisville State. He’s going to do good things for them in the future and we're all excited to watch him succeed as a Mustang."
Weycker was a part of three NA3HL South Division Championships and he received an NAHL call-up during his time in Texas.
With a solid 6-foot-2, 215 pound frame, Weycker knew how to throw the body and work himself to the front of the net. Over the course of his NA3HL tenure, Weycker developed into a strong two-way forward who can play an aggressive east-west game. Over his junior career, Weycker finished with a stat line of 82 points in 140 games, 283 penalty minutes and a plus-60 rating.
Weycker becomes the second Brahma from this year's roster to commit to an NCAA program.
