May 24, 2018
The New Ulm Steel of the NA3HL is proud to announce the NCAA commitments for two players. Forward Alex Nagel has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for the University of Wisconsin-Stout and forward Austin Langworthy has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Bethel University.
Nagel, a native of Antigo, Wisconsin, played for the Steel for two seasons where he tallied 46 goals and 71 assists for a total of 117 points in 91 games played.
“I chose UW-Stout because it was the best place for me to continue my hockey career and further my education. Stout has a top-notch hockey program with a lot of tradition and a great coaching staff. On top of that, the university will provide an excellent education for my future,” said Nagel.
“I would like to thank all of my teammates, coaches, and the Steel organization for a fantastic two years in New Ulm. I would not have the opportunity to play college hockey if it wasn’t for all of them,” said Nagel.
Nagel, 20, was selected and participated in the 2018 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament and was the Steel’s point and assist leader for the 2017-18 season. Prior to his time with the Steel, Nagel played at Antigo High School and was their captain his senior year.
Langworthy, a former Mankato West High School Scarlet, was traded to the Steel from the Breezy Point North Stars midway through the 2017-18 season. He played 25 games with the Steel where he tallied 12 goals and 15 assists.
Prior to his time with the Steel, Langworthy spent two-and-a-half seasons with the North Stars where he recorded 54 goals and 61 assists in 121 games played.
Langworthy, 21, was selected and participated in the 2016 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament and was the North Stars’ top goal scorer during the 2016-17 season.
