NA3HL announces Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey

September 26, 2018

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending September 23, 2018. The divisional stars of the week are awards given each week of the regular season to the top-performing players in each of the eight divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

Central Division Star of the Week: Dante Jones, Forward, St. Louis Jr. Blues

After adding three goals and an assist to his totals last week, Jones now leads the Jr. Blues with seven markers on the year — good for a share of fourth in the league. During a pair of closely-contested matchups in Granite City, Jones led the way with a goal in St. Louis’ 2-1 win in the front half of the back-to-back, then followed it up with two more and a helper during their 6-5 OT loss the next day. Jones has tallied at least one point in each of his five games played thus far, including four multi-point outings.

Coastal Division Star of the Week: Cole Ouellette, Defense, L/A Nordiques

The Nordiques’ second-leading scorer (behind fellow nominee Joshua Sanchez) may not have lit the lamp to the extent of his peers last week, but his work as L/A’s setup man boosts him to the top spot. Oullette notched 11 of his 13 total points in three games last week, scoring once and assisting on a whopping 10 goals in that span. His starring role came during his team’s final contest of the week, a 9-1 win over Skylands in which Ouellette scored once and added five helpers to account for two thirds of the Nordiques’ nine strikes.

Varty broke out in a big way during Gillette’s opening game of last week against Missoula, a 7-4 win which saw the the Pierre, SD native notch two goals and four assists. The Wild’s leading scorer wasn’t done there, however, as he followed up that showing with a two-assist performance in Gillette’s 3-1 win over Missoula the following day. With 12 points in just four games already, the Wild captain looks set to surpass last season’s 24 points in 47 outings in short order.

Cook now ranks tied for second in goals amongst the high-high-scoring Senators with seven markers this season, which gives him a share of fourth in the league.
