NA3HL announces Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey

October 3, 2018

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending September 30, 2018. The divisional stars of the week are awards given each week of the regular season to the top-performing players in each of the six divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

Central Division Star of the Week: Aaron Dickstein, G, Milwaukee Power

As the Power continue their undefeated start to their first NA3HL season, so too does goaltender Aaron Dickstein, who has backstopped Milwaukee to each of its seven consecutive wins in 2018-19. Dickstein starred in last week’s contest with 29 saves on 30 shots, posting a .967 save percentage — the fourth time in seven starts that he has recorded a save percentage of .962 or higher.

2nd Star: Kody Kifer, F, Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Ivan Bilyy, F, Milwaukee Power - Tyler Dorion, G, Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts - Blake Finley, D, Peoria Mustangs - Luke Hefty, D, Wisconsin Whalers - Cody Layne, D, Peoria Mustangs - Kai Tomita, G, Wisconsin Whalers

Coastal Division Star of the Week: JP Chauvin, D, L/A Nordiques

Chauvin was a model of consistency with his playmaking during L/A’s three games last week, notching multiple points in each contest to help the Nordiques maintain their perfect record through the first eight outings. Chauvin nabbed a pair of assists in the 5-2 win over Northeast, a goal and another two assists in a 9-1 victory over Maine and finally, two more helpers to lift the Nordiques over the Generals once more in a 7-6 shootout affair to bring his three-game total to 1g-6a-7pts last week.

2nd Star: Cole Therrien, D, Cape Cod Islanders

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Thaddeus Marcola, F, Northeast Generals - Tyler Rudek, F, Northeast Generals - Joshua Sanchez, F, L/A Nordiques

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Misha Akatnov, F, Missoula Jr. Bruins

Despite last week’s two games marking just his first two appearances for Missoula thus far, Akatnov hit the ground running in a big way. The Tyumen, RUS native posted a hat-trick and two assists in his first skate, a 6-5 win over Gillette, then followed it up with another two goals — including the OT game-winner — and an assist in the Jr. Bruins’ 4-3 overtime win again over the Wild. In just two games, Akatnov has moved into third in team scoring with eight points.

2nd Star: Darren Donovan, F, Helena Bighorns

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Connor Frye, D, Missoula Jr. Bruins - Justin Sullivan, D, Helena Bighorns

Northeast Division Star of the Week: Steven Ford, F, Skylands Kings

Ford was held pointless through his first two outings of the season, but broke out with points in each of Skylands’ three games last week. The forward posted an assist in the Kings’ 7-4 loss to Binghamton on Friday, then notched his first multi-point effort of the season with a goal and an assist in an 8-7 defeat at the hands of Oswego on Saturday. Ford and the Kings finished the week in style, with the Dallas native notching a hat-trick and an assist to help Skylands to its first win in 2018-19 — a 5-4 decision over Oswego on Sunday.

2nd Star: Elijah Morris, D, Oswego Stampede

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Jake Cicalese, F, Skylands Kings - Mark Mannarn, F, Oswego Stampede

South Division Star of the Week: Seth McArdle, F, Mid Cities Jr. Stars

Mid Cities romped to a pair of huge wins over College Station last week, and McArdle featured in different roles throughout the offense as he lit the lamp for the first time(s) this season. During Friday’s contest, McArdle struck for three goals — including a shorthanded effort — as he led the way for his team. On Saturday, McArdle found twine once more in a 9-2 win to continue building on his early success.

2nd Star: Gunner Moore, D, Atlanta Capitals

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Jason Ladzinski, F, Atlanta Capitals - Nick Solema, F, Mid Cities Jr. Stars

West Division Star of the Week: Brett Meister, F, Alexandria Blizzard

Meister put forth a pair of strong showings to help the Blizzard to 15-2 and 12-2 wins over Wausau on Friday and Saturday, recording his first goals of the campaign and leading all Alexandria skaters with 5g-6a-11pts through those two contests. The White Bear Lake, MN native nabbed a goal and three assists on Friday, and followed it up with a whopping four goals and three assists on Saturday to boast a team-high 12 points in four games this season.
