NA3HL announces Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending October 7, 2018. The divisional stars of the week are awards given each week of the regular season to the top-performing players in each of the six divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

 

Central Division Star of the Week: Sam Hanson, F, Wisconsin Whalers

Wisconsin’s leading scorer was in fine form on the weekend, putting up a scorching 19 points in three games. Hanson boasts points in each of his five games played this season, totaling four points in two games prior to his outburst last weekend. On Friday, Hanson lit up the ice with a pair of goals and six assists to go with a whopping +7 rating, before following that showing up with a hat-trick and four helpers on Saturday. Hanson capped off his weekend with another two goals and two assists on Sunday.

2nd Star: Kody Kifer, F, Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Chuck Bay, F, Milwaukee Power – Will Baginski, F, St. Louis Jr. Blues – Benjamin Cope, D, Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts – Anthony Fortin, F, Wisconsin Whalers – Zach Lodes, F, St. Louis Jr. Blues

 

Coastal Division Star of the Week: Marc Faia, F, Northeast Generals

A model of consistency throughout the young season, Faia starred in the Generals’ three games last week. The Everett, MA native notched four helpers in a 10-2 win on Friday – his second four-point effort in two games. He followed that performance up in Saturday’s 8-4 loss, factoring in on each of his team’s tallies with a goal and three assists. In Sunday’s 8-3 defeat, Faia tallied a goal and an assist, and continues to lead all Generals skaters with 5g-16a-21pts in the young season.

2nd Star: Colby Audette, F, L/A Nordiques

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Tyler Rudek, F, Northeast Generals

 

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Vadim Zubkov, F, Missoula Jr. Bruins

With nine points in last week’s two games, and 16 total in his last five outings, Zubkov has broken out in a big way for the Bruins. The Raduzhny, RUS native bagged his first hat-trick of the season and added a helper on Sunday, after a solid showing with a goal and four assists on Saturday. Zubkov has also logged a +10 rating across his last four games, registering a +2 or higher in each contest.

2nd Star: Trent Cowden, D, Great Falls Americans

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Ricards Groskopss, D, Helena Bighorns – Hayden Seitz, F, Helena Bighorns – Keith Zobel, F, Missoula Jr. Bruins

 

Northeast Division Star of the Week: Zach Bell, F, Binghamton Jr. Senators

Binghamton has blitzed through opponents at the start of the 2018-19 campaign on the back of several key contributors, with one of those, Bell, making the most of his time to shine last week. Bell kicked off the weekend with four goals in the Senators’ 8-4 win over Northeast, before adding another goal and three assists in an 8-3 victory on Sunday. Bell now trails only Elliot Plourde of Helena in goals with 13 on the year, one behind Plourde’s 14.

2nd Star: Elijah Morris, D, Oswego Stampede

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Trevor Christopher, D, Skylands Kings – Mark Mannarn, F, Oswego Stampede – Dylan Saccone, F, Skylands Kings

 

South Division Star of the Week: Matej Palfy, D, Texas Brahmas

It was a tense trio of games for Texas last week as they took on the stout Louisiana Drillers, and the Brahmas managed to take points from all three contests thanks to performances like that of Palfy. The Kosice, SVK native defenseman found his offensive game after four games without a point to start the season, notching a goal and an assist on Friday, a 5-4 OT loss. Palfy then led Texas’ resurgence on Saturday, notching two goals and an assist en route to a 4-2 win. The blueliner managed an assist in Sunday’s finale, a 6-5 SO loss, and ended the weekend with a +1 rating amongst the plethora of goals on both sides.

2nd Star: Blake Siewertsen, F, Louisiana Drillers

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Francisco Clark-Silva, G, Mid Cities Jr. Stars – Jack Cooper, F, Texas Brahmas – Josh Linn, F, Mid Cities Jr. Stars – Viacheslav Nilov, F, Louisiana Drillers

 

West Division Star of the Week: Vladislav Sorokin, F, Rochester Grizzlies

Sorokin has featured heavily in Rochester’s attack so far this season, but his goal-scoring hit a new level as the forward notched back-to-back hat-tricks on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s 5-0 shutout win over Willmar featured Sorokin’s first multi-goal of the campaign, as the St. Petersburg, RUS native bagged a power-play tally and the game-winner. Saturday saw another triple from Sorokin as the Grizzlies skated to a 7-1 victory. Sorokin ended the weekend with a +5 rating and moved into a tie with Richard Szabo atop the Rochester scoring race with 7g-4a-11pts in five games this season.

2nd Star: Dysen Skinner, G, North Iowa Bulls
