Chill forward Magnavite makes NCAA commitment
November 6, 2018
The Coulee Region Chill, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that forward Thomas Magnavite has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Saint Mary’s University.
Magnavite, 19, is in his second season playing in the NA3HL. He began the 2018-19 season playing in the NAHL for the Brookings Blizzard, where he recorded two points in eight games. While with the Chill in the NA3HL, the 5’9/175 lbs. native of Chicago, Illinois, has recorded 17 points in just seven games played.
That included a stretch back in mid-October when Magnavite was named the NA3HL’s Central Division Star of the Week, where Magnavite’s back-to-back hat-tricks were a main catalyst for the team’s success.
Last season, Magnavite played for the La Crosse Freeze (now Coulee Region Chill) in the NA3HL, leading the team to a Fraser Cup Final Four appearance. In 35 regular season games he recorded 44 points and added seven points in eight playoff games.
"Thomas is a very skilled and intelligent player and our program is thrilled that he has decided to stay close to home and pursue NCAA hockey at Saint Mary’s University,” said Jon Vaillancourt, head coach of the Coulee Region Chill.
"We are very excited to have Thomas. We are confident he will develop into a solid NCAA Division III player,” said Saint Mary’s head coach Bill Moore.
