Jr. Blues move to 2-0 at national tournament

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) finished the second day of the USA Hockey Tier III Junior A National Tournament, which is being held from April 1-5 in Rochester, Minn., with a 1-2 record.

In the NA3HL's win, the defending national champion St. Louis Jr. Blues (2-0) downed the Northern Pacific Junior Hockey League's (Nor Pac) Seattle Totems, 4-3. Four different players lit the lamp for the Jr. Blues, with defenseman Anthony Bonner connecting for the game-winning goal. Between the pipes, goaltender Justin Davis stopped 26 shots.

The Hurster Cup champion Chicago Hitmen (1-0-1) fell to the Minnesota Junior Hockey League's Granite City Lumberjacks, 8-2. Forward Matthew Spica and defenseman Alexander Murphy struck for the Hitmen goals, and netminder Nicholas Kohn and Robert Kennedy combined to stop 41 shots.

The Queen City Steam (0-2) were blanked by the Nor Pac's Helena Bighorns, 4-0. Goaltender Matthew Leon stopped 31 shots in the loss.
