Coulee Region defenseman Holmes signs NAHL tender
January 14, 2019
The Coulee Region Chill of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that defenseman Blake Holmes has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Minnesota Wilderness of the NAHL’s Central Division.
Holmes, 19, is in his first season of playing junior hockey, which has been in both the NAHL and NA3HL this season. The 6’2/205 lbs. native of Apple Valley, Minnesota, began the season in the NAHL with the Janesville Jets, appearing in three games.
He since has played in 25 games with the Chill this season in the NA3HL and recorded 48 points (14 goals, 34 assists), which leads all Chill defensemen and ranks 4th among all NA3HL defensemen.
Holmes is currently riding a 13-game point streak, which dates back to November 30th. He has been named runner-up for Central Division Star of the Week twice so far this season.
Prior to playing in the NA3HL and NAHL this season, Holmes played high school hockey in Minnesota for St. Thomas Academy where he recorded 47 points in 75 career games played.
Holmes is the first player from the Chill this season who has signed an NAHL tender agreement.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2019.
