February 28, 2019
The Gillette Wild of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward and team captain Coleman Varty has committed to play ACHA Division I hockey for Lindenwood University, who are currently the #1 ranked ACHA Division I program in the country.
Varty, 20, is currently competing in his final season of junior hockey, which has been spent the past two seasons with the Wild in the NA3HL. The 6’1/195 lbs. native of Pierre, South Dakota, currently sits 2nd in the team in points with 74 points (31 goals, 43 assists) in 43 games played.
Varty recently was selected to and played in the 2019 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the Frontier Division team where he had an assist in three games.
Overall in his two year NA3HL career, Varty has 98 career points in 90 career NA3HL regular season games.
“I am thrilled for Coleman. He is a super mature young man and did a ton of research into both the education as well as the quality of the hockey program. Lindenwood University was not even on his radar until the showcase in Blaine, MN in December, so it speaks to quality of the event as well. I am proud to say I coached Coleman and wish him nothing but the absolute best in both his future academic and hockey endeavors,” said Wild Head Coach/GM Steve Kruk.
