Upsets highlight final day of NA3HL East Showcase

Atlanta 3 @ St. Louis 2 - In what might have been the best game of the East Showcase, the Atlanta Capitals scored a 3-2 comeback victory over the St. Louis Jr. Blues. Jacob Wiethaupt got the scoring started at the 5:13 mark of the first period. He was get on the board again just 19 seconds in to the second to double the Jr. Blues lead. That two goal advantage would last 21 seconds as Andrei Rusakov lit the lamp to make it a 2-1 game. In the closing minutes of the second, Lucas Crawford beat Trevor Smith in a race to the puck and was able to put in the game tying goal while flying through the air. The game would remain even until Rusakov netted his second goal of the morning with just 4:27 to play in regulation. Noah Ping got the win in goal for Atlanta as he stopped 22 of 24 shots. Smith on the other end was sensational as he made 45 saves in the loss.
Danbury 4 @ L/A 1 - Kolby Donovan scored twice and added an assist as the Danbury Colonials handed the L/A Nordiques their first loss of the season. Kevin Remson and Dylan Webber both had a goal and an assist in the win for Danbury. Michael Nardi stopped 19 of 20 shots to pick up the win in the crease. Peyton Hughes scored the lone goal for the Nordiques while Nick Beck made 16 saves.
TX RoadRunners 2 @ NE Knights 3 - Nolan Murphy’s second goal of the game was the difference as the New England Knights picked up their first win of the NA3HL East Showcase. Murphy got the scoring started as his fourth of the year gave the Knights a 1-0 lead. Texas would even the game at one as Brenden Fehlig netted his fifth of the season. The game wouldn’t stay tied for long as the Knights’ Max Burum scored to make it a 2-1 game. Fehlig would find his second goal of the game to bring us even once more. Then came Murphy’s goal just four minutes later and that would stand as the game winner. Steven Barry picked up the win for New England as he made 29 stops. Jaeger Reed was dealt the loss as he made 27 saves.
Elmira 1 @ Maine 2 - Owen DuBois’ goal with 20 seconds remaining in the second period lifted the Maine Wild to a 2-1 win over the Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles. Jayden Werner scored the first goal of the game for the Wild. Dawson Taylor and Kyle Wiswell picked up the helpers on the game winner. Thomas Leibold provided the only goal for the Jr. Soaring Eagles with Lou DeCola contributing the assist. Tom Spero stopped a remarkable 53 shots to improve to 2-2 on the season. Andrew Engel was very good in his own right as he stopped 41 shots.
Long Beach 3 @ NE Stars 6 - Connor Barter picked up a hat tick and Josh Boyd had a goal and an assist as the New England Stars defeated the Long Beach Sharks 6-3. Derek Lovejoy and John Rynne both found the back of the net in the win for the Stars. Casey Johnson got the win in goal as he made 19 saves. Chris Wracker had a goal and an assist to lead the Sharks. Stephen Hines and Steven Ferraro both lit the lamp in the loss. Timothy Brillaud took the loss in goal as he made 59 saves.
Skylands 2 @ Northeast 8 - The Northeast Generals lit up the scoreboard in the final game of the East Showcase as they knocked off the Skylands Kings 8-2. Stephen Gerbis led all players with a hat trick and four assists. Kolye Bankasuskas picked up a hat trick of his own and chipped in two helpers. Grigori Zemzer and Samuel Rychvalsky also tickled the twine for the Generals. Carson Asper helped out with three assists. John Driscoll stopped 33 of 35 shots to earn the win in net. Justin Hiler and Dylan Dinzik provided the offense for the Kings. Tyler Robertson and Andrew Herms teamed up to make 55 saves.
