October 23, 2019

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending October 20, 2019. The divisional stars of the week are awards given each week of the regular season to the top-performing players in each of the six divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

Central Division Star of the Week: Gadel Khismatullin, F, Coulee Region Chill

Khismatullin posted a pair of breakout performances last week, notching back-to-back multi-point outings to fuel two Chill wins. On Friday, the Russian forward set up two Coulee Region goals as they edged New Ulm 4-3 in a shootout, then followed it up on Sunday with the game-winning goal and two more helpers in another 4-3 win over the Steel, this time in regulation. Khismatullin’s performances were his second and third multi-point efforts this season, and effectively doubled his previous point total for the season.

Coastal Division Star of the Week: Kolye Bankauskas, F, Northeast Generals

It was another stellar week in what has been a remarkable start to the 2019-20 campaign for Bankauskas, who leads the NA3HL with 23g-20a—43pts in just 14 games. Last week saw him and the Generals hit the ice for three games, in which he nabbed a total of 12 points. He opened the week’s slate with a goal and two assists on Wednesday, continued with his fourth hat-trick of the year and three more assists on Saturday, then closed it all out by lighting the lamp two more times and setting up another marker on Sunday. Bankauskas has now posted two or more points in 11 straight contests, and has hit the scoresheet in 13 of 14 games this year.

2nd Star: Carson Asper, F, Northeast Generals

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): None

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Viktor Wennberg, G, Great Falls Americans

Wennberg was unbeatable in his two starts last week, stopping all 33 shots he faced en route to a pair of shutouts against Yellowstone. The goose eggs were Wennberg’s first of the season, and stretched his win streak to three games. In total, Wennberg has won six of his seven starts, posting a .945% save percentage on the young season.

The Colonials continued their ascent in the Northeast Division after a split with Maine last week with McEnany leading the way. The Texan posted two assists on Saturday in a tight loss before scoring on Sunday, in addition to another pair of helpers. McEnany has now potted 1g-9a—10pts on his current four-game point streak, bagging two or more points in each of those games after being held scoreless in his two prior outings.

The Wisconsin native put on a clinic in Friday’s victory, potting his first hat-trick of the year in a 7-3 win. His encore performance on Sunday was just as solid, with a goal and a helper in a 4-3 OT win. Leonhard now boasts points in eight of his last nine games, including five multi-point performances.

The Steel managed just one win in three games last week, but Halvorson’s production proved a bright spot regardless of result. The forward stretched his point streak to five games with a goal and an assist in Thursday’s win over Alexandria, another helper on Friday, and two more goals on Saturday. In total, Halvorson has bagged points in seven of eight games, including multiple points in five of those, for 8g-6a—14 points this season.
