NA3HL announces Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey

December 19, 2019

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending December 17, 2019. The divisional stars of the week are awards given each week of the regular season to the top-performing players in each of the six divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

Central Division Star of the Week: Dillan Bentley, F, Peoria Mustangs

Bentley had a Showcase showing to remember with eight points in three games to guide Peoria to a perfect 3-0 record. A hat-trick and two assists on Sunday led to another two strikes on Monday, a scoring eruption after Bentley had posted just a single tally in his prior five outings. On Tuesday, he found twine once more to ensure his name in the goal column during each Showcase contest. Bentley now boasts 7g-6a—13pts in just his last five games.

2nd Star: Clayton Dawe, F, St. Louis Jr. Blues

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Ryan Butt, F, Milwaukee Power — Marco Escobar, F, Coulee Region Chill — Joey Fodstad, F, Rochester Grizzlies — Porter Haney, F, Rochester Grizzlies — Wesley Knutson, F, Milwaukee Power — Ryan Payne, D, Peoria Mustangs — Parker Severson, F, Coulee Region Chill — Jake Stevenson, F, St. Louis Jr. Blues

Coastal Division Star of the Week: Kolye Bankauskas, F, Northeast Generals

Another week, another set of standout performances from Bankauskas. This time, the Rhode Island native bagged goals in each Showcase matchup en route to 10 points in three games. After scoring once and setting up another in Sunday’s win over the Brahmas, he then struck twice more and added another assist in a statement victory over Granite City. Capping it all off, Bankauskas recorded his sixth hat-trick of the season and posted another two helpers to help the Generals past Bozeman and on to a 3-0 run at the 2019 Showcase. His 6g-4a—10pts tied for the League lead during last week’s event in Blaine.

2nd Star: Luke Church, F, Maine Wild

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Kylar Garsjo, F, Butte Cobras

Garsjo stepped his game up during the Showcase to guide the Cobras to a 2-1 record in hopes of jumpstarting their season. Assisting once during a game on the 12th, Garsjo entered the Showcase with points in seven straight, and, despite seeing that streak end in a loss to Milwaukee on day one, played a pivotal role in both Butte wins with five goals and an assist. Garsjo scored once and nabbed his lone helper of the weekend in a win over Breezy Point, then carried the Cobras to victory over Long Beach with a stunning four goals, including the game-winner in overtime. Garsjo now boasts 26g-28a—54pts in 30 games this season.

Clarke was at his best during the Showcase, logging goals in each contest and capping it all off with a whopping six points in Tuesday’s win over Breezy Point. After posting the game-winning goal in Sunday’s win over Gillette, Clarke added another marker on Monday against Yellowstone. Tuesday’s aforementioned six-point outing against Breezy Point saw Clarke score twice and set up four teammates to mark his third game of the year with four or more points.

2nd Star: Joseph Arnold, F, Skylands Kings

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): None

South Division Star of the Week: Blake Siewertsen, F, Louisiana Drillers

The Drillers’ 1-2 record at the Showcase may not have been ideal, but Siewertsen shone through with some memorable performances. After posting a stout, three-assist game against L/A, the Michigan native exploded against Danbury, filling up the highlight reels with five goals, including the game-winner. Add in another helper on Tuesday against St. Louis, and Siewertsen’s Showcase effort stands as one of the more impressive performances from the event. His 5g-4a—9pts led all South skaters in Blaine, and pushed his season totals to 29g-30a—59pts in 31 games.

On Friday, he scored once and set up five teammates for goals, marking his first outing with more than three points this season. And after a goose-egg on Sunday against Sheridan, he did it again, finding twine once and posting four more helpers for five more points. After ending the event with another assist against Danbury, Danaev boasts 12 points during the week, and 10g-21a—31pts in 22 games this season.
