Saturday Scores: Sweep put Hawks into 1st place in Frontier

Keegan Bauman helped the New Ulm Steel to a weekend sweep of Peoria.

Gillette Wild 2 @ Sheridan Hawks 7 - Thanks to a hat trick from Kolten Wright the Sheridan Hawks defeated the Gillette Wild at home, 7-2. In the 1st period the Hawks had two goals from Jack Royer and Kolten Wright. Caleb Sanborn of the Wild scored :55 into the 2nd before the Hawks could add four more points to their lead with goals from Wright, Ttrevor Timm, Briar Sylvester, and Logan Syrup. Wild forward Declan Young added a goal before the end of the period. The only goal in the 3rd came from Wright to complete a hat trick. Hawks goalie James Downie made 24 saves of 26 in the win while Wilds goalies Brad Muzzarelli made 23 of 27 and Shane Phillips made 26 of 29.
 
Granite City Lumberjacks 0 @ North Iowa Bulls 2 - The North Iowa Bulls won at home against the Granite City Lumberjacks, 2-0. Lucas Wahlin of the Bulls scored the only goal in the 1st. After an uneventful 2nd period Bulls forward Jac Triemert scored early in the 3rd. Bulls goalies Evan Babekuhl recorded a shutout with 21 saves while Lumberjacks goalies Nate Johnston made 11 saves of 13 and Bailey Huber made 2 of 2.
 
Peoria Mustangs 2 @ New Ulm Steel 4 - The New Ulm Steel won at home against the Peoria Mustangs, 4-2. In the 1st Dillan Bentley of the Mustangs scored followed by a goal from Steel forward Michael Savelkoul. Connor Bennett of the Mustangs scored the only goal of the 2nd. The Steel put up three more goals in the 3rd with two from Keegan Bauman and one from Joey Gimberlin. Goalie AJ Cohen of the Steel made 20 of 22 saves in the win while Jaden Gardner of the Mustangs made 44 of 48.
 
Milwaukee Power 6 @ Willmar WarHawks 1 - The Willmar WarHawks lost at home against the Milwaukee Power, 6-1. Garrett Alton put the Power on the board late in the 1st. Marquez Ginger of the WarHawks scored in the 2nd only to be answered by two goals from Power forward Ryan Butt. In the 3rd the Power put up three more goals from Wesley Knutson, Griffin Nickerson, and Brady Rossbach. Goalie Joey Greilich of the Power made 56 saves of 57 while Luke Weberg of the WarHawks made 17 of 23.
 
Missoula Junior Bruins 2 @ Helena Bighorns 3 - The Helena Bighorns won at home against the Missoula Junior Blues, 3-2. The Bighorns got an early lead in the 1st with two goals from Dylan Ferreira followed by a goal from Porter Tirrill in the 2nd. The Junior Bruins made it a one-goal game in the 3rd with two points from Austin Franck and Owen Lee. Bighorns goalie Kevin Tauntman made 31 saves of 33 in the win while Dylan Swanson of the Junior Bruins made 52 of 55 in the loss.
 
Great Falls Americans 2 @ Bozeman Icedogs 5 - The Bozeman Icedogs won at home against the Great Falls Americans, 5-2. The Americans got on the board in the with a shot from Dylan Olson only to be answered by a goal from Isaac Smoldon of the Icedogs. Brody Boyce of the Americans scored to take the lead before the end of the 1st. Will Kutch and Tadeas Aulehla put up two for the Icedogs in the 2nd. In the 3rd the Icedogs added two to their lead with a shot from Duncan McGarrah and another from Kutch. Goalie Conan Hayton of the Icedogs allowed 2 goals of 34 shots on goal while Viktor Wennberg of the Americans allowed 4 of 36.
 
Yellowstone Quake 5 @ Butte Cobras 3 - The Yellowstone Quake traveled to defeat the Butte Cobras, 5-3. The Quake took the lead in the 1st with goals from Ryan Lovelace and Dylan Rumpke. Austin Turner put the Cobras on the board before Rumpke and Spencer Platt of the Quake could both score. Ethan Gicewiez of the Quake added another before the Cobras could score twice with goals from Robin Bagley and Ty Stovin. Goalie Hudgel Selk of the Quake made 37 of 40 saves while Aiden Waal of the Cobras made 35 of 40.
 
Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles 5 @ Long Beach Sharks 3 - The Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles traveled to beat the Long Beach Sharks, 5-3. The Eagles took the lead in the 1st period with three goals from Ben Saurbaugh, Sam Miller and John Kosa. In the 2nd Ethan Fuller of the Eagles scored before the Sharks could get on the board with a shot from Matthew Barnes, only to be answered with a goal from Eagles forward Owen Stelmack. The Sharks put up two more goals from Kyle O’Neill and Will Space before an uneventful 3rd. Goalie Daniel McCarthy of the Eagles allowed 3 goals in the win while Timothy Brillaud of the Sharks allowed 5 in the loss. 
 
Mid Cities Jr. Stars 5 @ Atlanta Capitals 4 - The Atlanta Capitals lost at home against the Mid Cities Jr. Stars, 5-4. The Capitals started off strong with two goals in the 1st from David Helpap and Matthew Macumber. In the 2nd period the Jr. Stars tied the game with two goals from Joey DeMitchell and Zach Perez. Jr. Stars forward Rj Muckensturm scored first in the 3rd followed by a goal from Christopher Walker of the Capitals. Logan High of the Jr. Stars answered with a goal seconds later only for Andrei Rusakov of the Capitals to score, forcing overtime. Zach Perez of the Jr. Stars scored 2:56 into overtime to win the game. Jr. Stars goalie Kenton Kim made 55 saves of 59 in the win while Capitals goalie Gunnar Snyder made 35 of 50 in the loss.
 
L/A Nordiques 4 @ New England Knights 1 - The L/A Nordiques traveled to defeat the New England Knights, 4-1. In the 1st period the Nordiques got on the board with a goal from Noe Bensalem. Joe Clark of the Nordiques scored first in the 2nd period followed by a goal from Knights forward Martin Dlugolinsky. The Nordiques put up two more points in the 3rd with goals from Joe Clark and Sergei Anisimov. Goalie Brogan MacDonald of the Nordiques made 29 saves of 30 while Zach Roncarati of the Knights made 29 of 32.
 
Maine Wild 1 @ New England Stars 8 - The New England Stars won at home against the Maine Wild, 8-1. The Stars started the game with two goals from Luke Church and Jon Natale in the 1st period. In the 2nd the Stars stayed ahead of the Wild with three more goals from Josh Boyd, Derek Flynn, and Anthony Viola. Two goals from Michael Lempiainen of the Stars made for an exciting first minute of the 3rd answered by a goal from Gus Frankwicz of the Wild. Anthony VIola put one more up for the Stars before the end of the 3rd. Stars goalie Ben Monsivais made 24 of 25 saves in the win while Wilds goalies Keenan Gamache made 31 of 36 and Seth Dube made 9 of 12 in the loss.
 
Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles 4 @ Long Beach Sharks 1 - The Long Beach Sharks lost at home against the Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles, 4-1. Thomas Liebold of the Eagles scored the only goal of the 1st. In the 2nd Ethan Fuller of the Eagles scored the only goal. Eagles forward Ben Saurbaugh scored in the 3rdl before Steven Ferraro could put the Sharks on the board. Thomas Liebold scored again for the Eagles with :08 left in the game. Goalie Daniel McCarthy of the Eagles allowed 1 goal in the win while Richard Prazen of the Sharks allowed 3 in the loss. 
 
Louisiana Drillers 0 @ Texas RoadRunners 5 - Jaeger Reed of the Texas RoadRunners recorded a shutout to defeat the Louisiana Drillers,  5-0. In the 1st Trevor Borlace of the RoadRunners scored the only goal of the period. The RoadRunners stayed ahead with two more goals in the 2nd from Petr Pokorny and Logan Bellar. Trevor Borlace scored :16 into the 3rd followed by a goal from teammate Logan Bellar. RoadRunner goalie Jaeger Reed made 39 saves while Drillers goalie Aaron Dickstein made 39 of 44.
