Friday Finals: Quake make noise in Frontier with big win

Nolan Murphy had a big night to lead the New England Knights to a win and move into a playoff spot.

Sheridan Hawks 3 @ Yellowstone Quake 4 - The Yellowstone Quake won at home against the Sheridan Hawks, 4-3. In the 1st the Hawks got an early lead with two goals from Steven Delikat. The Quake took the lead in the 3rd with two goals from Cade Rosansky and Spencer Platt and two goals from Dylan Rumpke. The last goal of the game came from Mike Kocsis of the Hawks. Goalie Michael Allman of the Quake made 41 saves of 44 while James Downie of the Hawks made 17 of 21.  
 
New Ulm Steel 4 @ Willmar WarHawks 2 - The Willmar WarHawks lost at home against the New Ulm Steel, 4-2. Josh Baker of the Steel scored in the 1st answered by a goal from Eli Slagter of the WarHawks before Jacob Halvorson could score for the Steel to take the lead. The only goal in the 2nd came from Brandon Holt of the WarHawks. The Steel put up two more goals in the 3rd from Nick Wieben and Corey Stormer. Steel goalie Jack Raymond made 35 saves of 37 while WarHawks goalie made 30 of 34.
 
Gillette Wild 4 @ Missoula Junior Bruins 6 - The Missoula Junior Bruins won at home against the Gillette Wild, 6-4. In the 1st period the Bruins managed two goals from Henry Morrison and Owen Lee before Mason Hoffman could put the Wild on the board. The Wild took the lead in the 2nd with goals from Keedin Denny and Tyler Kaminski. In the 3rd Mi-Kwan Tallman scored for the Bruins followed quickly by a goal from Declan Young of the Wild. The Bruins came back strong with three more goals from Cayce Balk, Connor Frye, and Trevor Prince. Goalie Larkin Dolan of the Bruins made 27 saves of 31 while Shane Phillips of the Wild made 24 of 30.
 
Great Falls Americans 1 @ Bozeman Icedogs 5 - The Bozeman Icedogs won at home against the Great Falls Americas, 5-1. In the 2nd period the Icedogs managed three goals from Max Schumacher, Luke Hartge, and Caleb Brownell before Braydon Rachow of the Americans could score. The Icedogs added two more to their lead in the 3rd with goals from Hartge and Will Kutch. Icedogs goalie Conan Hayton made 38 of 39 saves in the win while Americans goalies Trever Mellen made 30 of 35 and Vincent Marroni made 1 save.
 
Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles 2 @ Danbury Colonials 3 (OT) - The Danbury Colonials won in overtime against the Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles, 3-2. In the 1st period the only goal came from John Kosa of the Soaring Eagles. The Colonials came back in the 2nd with two goals from Ryan Wojciechowski and Brandon Cope. After an uneventful 3rd the Colonials won just :31 into overtime with a goal from Brandon Cope. Goalie Shane O’Brien of the Colonials made 21 saves of 31 in the win while Soaring Eagles goalies Daniel McCarthy made 26 of 28 and Andrew Engel made 9 of 10.
 
Texas Brahmas 7 @ Mid Cities Jr. Stars 0 - Thanks to a shutout from Kayden Hargraves the Texas Brahmas defeated the Mid Cities Jr. Stars, 7-0. The Brahmas started strong with two goals in the 1st from Danny Barry and Blake Rothstein. In the 2nd they added three to their lead from Benjamin Mondou, Barry, and Tyler Blanchard. A goal from Jack Cooper came before teammate Barry could complete his hat trick. Brahmas goalie Kayden Hargraves made 30 saves in the win while Jr. Stars goalies Nahuel Veyan made 6 saves of 8 and Kenton Kim made 42 of 47 in the loss.
 
North Iowa Bulls 5 @ Alexandria Blizzard 1 - The North Iowa Bulls traveled to defeat the Alexandria Blizzard, 5-1. The only goal in the 1st came from Jackson Vercellono of the Bulls. The Bulls stayed ahead in the 2nd with a goal from Jordan Roo followed by two from Lucas Wahlin. In the 3rd period Justin Daly of the Bulls scored before Chayse Haberman could get the Blizzard on the board with just under a minute left. Bulls goalie Joseph Daninger made 24 saves of 25 while Blizzard goalie Bailey Rosch made 43 of 48.
 
Maine Wild 1 @ New England Knights 6 - The New England Knights won at home against the Maine Wild, 6-1. The Knights got on the board first with a goal from Leevi Kervinen in the 1st period. In the 2nd Dalton Mcann of the Wild scored followed by three goals from Max Burum, Brendan Thomas-Heayden, and Devon Butler of the Knights. Nolan Murphy scored two goals in the 3rd.Goalie Zach Roncarati of the Knights made 13 saves of 14 while Ricardo Alvarez of the Wild made 27 of 33.
 
Milwaukee Power 5 @ Wausau RiverWolves 4 (OT) - The Milwaukee Power won against he Wausau RiverWolves in overtime, 5-4. The Power got on the board in the 1st with a goal from Griffin Nickerson. In the 2nd Ryan Butt of the Power scored followed by three goals from Tanner Eskro, Mitchel Idalski, and Robert Carlson of the RiverWolves. The Power managed two goals in the 3rd from Nico Piehl and Ryan Butt before the RiverWolves could tie it up with a shot from Sam Baker. The Power won in overtime with a goal from Vince Palade just :35 in. Power goalie Joey Grilich made 36 saves of 40 in the win while RiverWolves goalie Tyler Klatt made 31 of 36 in the loss.
 
Granite City Lumberjacks 14 @ Breezy Point North Stars 2 - The Granite City Lumberjacks traveled to defeat the Breezy Point North Stars, 14-2. The Lumberjacks put up four points in the 1st from Mark Sousa, Kearby Larson, Jonah Jangula, and Nick Plautz. In the 2nd Mario Mainetta of the North Stars Scored only to be answered by goals from Carson Simon, Tristan Birdsall and two from Jangula.The first goal in the 3rd came from Cody Dias of the Lumberjacks followed by one from Jordan Linder of the North Stars. The Lumberjacks added five more goals to their lead before the end of the game with shots from Sousa, Nathan Green, Simon, Larson, and Troy Dahlheimer. Goalie Bailey Huber of the Lumberjacks made 6 saves of 8 in the win while Jake Sumner of the North Stars made 76 saves of 90.
