Mid Cities forward Carter signs NAHL tender
February 4, 2020
The Mid Cities Jr. Stars of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Payton Carter has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Corpus Christi IceRays of the NAHL’s South Division.
Carter, 19, is in his second season playing in the NA3HL for the Stars. The 5’10/170 lbs. native of Fort Worth, Texas has played in 34 games so far during the 2019-20 season and recorded 18 points (6 goals, 12 assists).
Last season, Carter appeared in eight games for the Stars.
Prior to that, Carter played in the NAPHL for the Dallas Blackhawks 16U team during the 2017-18 season, appearing in 16 NAPHL games.
“We are happy and excited for Payton in signing this NAHL tender. He has come a long way and we hope he makes the most of opportunity with Corpus Christi,” said Mid Cities head coach Tom Train.
Carter is the first member of the Mid Cities Jr. Stars to sign an NAHL tender so far this season.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 2, 2020.
