Friday Finals: Grizzlies capture Central title with win

Abraham Laggis had a hat-trick, including the overtime-winner on Friday, to keep the Helena Bighorns in the Frontier Division playoff race.

Coulee Region Chill 0 @ Rochester Grizzlies 11 - Thanks to a shut out from Mathias Backstrom the Rochester Grizzlies dominated at home against the Coulee Region Chill, winning 11-0 and capturing the Central Division's regular season crown. The Grizzlies started off the 1st with two goals from Noel Parker and one from Lucas Newman. In the 2nd the Grizzlies added four to their lead with goals from Paul Hofbauer, Newman, Porter Haney, and Devin Hays. The Grizzlies put up four more points in the 3rd with goals from Matthew DeRosa, Joey Fostad, Clayton Shultz, and Ethan Noonan. In the shutout goalie Mathias Backstrom of the Grizzlies made 23 saves while Chill goalies Michael Janke made 11 saves of 14 and Devin Naidow made 18 of 26.
 
Helena Bighorns 5 @ Butte Cobras 4 (OT) - Thanks to an overtime goal from Abraham Laggis the Helena Bighorns won against the Butte Cobras, 5-4. Ty Stovin of the Cobras scored in the 1st followed by a goal from Abraham Laggis of the Bighorns. In the 2nd Stovin scored for the Cobras again before Johnny Baird could score twice for the Bighorns. Kyler Garjo of the Cobras scored before the end of the 2nd to tie it up. The Bighorns took the lead in the 3rd with a goal from Laagis before Nick Bradshaw of the Cobras could score to force overtime. Laggis of the Bighorns scored :59 into overtime to win the game. Bighorns goalie Kevin Tautman made 47 saves of 51 in the win while Danny Fielding of the Cobras made 49 of 54 in the loss.
 
Louisiana Drillers 1 @ Atlanta Capitals 6 - The Atlanta Capitals won at home against the Louisiana Drillers, 6-1. In the 1st the Capitals had two goals from David Helpap and Jake Pisarcik. The Drillers got on the board in the 2nd with a goal from Shamil Khadizhalov before the Capitals could follow with three goals, two from Cole Thomas Johnson and one from Kirill Nichulichev. The Capitals kept their lead in the 3rd with another goal from Nichulichev. Capitals goalie Patrick Egdorf made 38 of 39 saves in the win while Drillers goalie Daniel Sprague made 28 of 34 in the loss. 
 
Milwaukee Power 2 @ Alexandria Blizzard 14 - The Alexandria Blizzard won against the Milwaukee Power, 14-2. In the 1st the Blizzard put up three points, one from Austin McNeil and two from Brandon Connett. Ryan Butt of the Power scored in the 2nd followed by a goal from Nolan Westra of the Blizzard which was then answered by a goal from Wesley Knutson of the Power. The Blizzard put up four more points before the end of the 2nd with two goals from Connett and one each from Westra and McNeil. The Blizzard added six to their lead in the 3rd with goals from Chayse Haberman, McNeil, Val Popowski, Cole Jacobs, and two from Cole Lehmann. Blizzard goalie Ville Hyttinen made 26 saves of 28 while goalies Ty Barnhill made 49 of 59 and Zach Piehl made 17 of 21. 
 
Willmar WarHawks 4 @ New Ulm Steel 5 (SO) - The New UIm Steel won with a shootout goal from Dawson Schwengler, 5-4, and extending their winning streak to 14 straight games. The WarHawks got an early lead with two points in the 1st from Danny Klatt and Nick Foldesi before Joey Gimberlin of the Steel could score. The lone goal of the 2nd period came from Jake Santarelli of the WarHawks. In the 3rd the Steel managed two goals from Jacob Halvorson and Teddy Lillico before Marquez Ginger could score for the WarHawks. The last goal in regulation came from Lillico of the Steel to force overtime. Nick Wieben of the Steel made the first goal of the shootout, Eli Slagter of the WarHawks scored next, followed by a goal from Dawson Schwengler of the Steel to win the game. Goalie AJ Cohen of the Steel made 33 saves of 37 in the win while Lukas Haugen of the WarHawks made 36 of 40 in the loss. 
 
Northeast Generals 7 @ Skylands Kings 2 - The Northeast Generals traveled to defeat the Skylands Kings, 7-2. In the 2nd period the Generals put up three goals from Tyler Kaminski, Ryan Reifier, and Stephen Gerbis. The Kings got on the board in the 3rd with a goal from Jonathan Meyers, answered shortly by a shot from Nicholas Wracker of the Generals. Kings forward James Clarke managed a goal followed by three from the Robby Beck, Wracker, and Gerbis of the Generals. Goalie Raphael Gaughan of the Generals made 20 of 22 saves in the win while Tyler Robertson of the Kings made 65 of 72 in the loss. 
 
Granite City Lumberjacks 10 @ Breezy Point North Stars 0 - Thanks to a shutout from Nate Johnston the Granite City Lumberjack won against the Breezy Point North Stars, 10-0. In the 1st the Lumberjacks scored twice with goals from Carson Simon and Tal Halliday. The Lumberjacks put up two more goals in the 2nd from Nicholas Richert and Blake Spetz. In the 3rd the Lumberjacks added six to their lead with goals from Ryan Pogue, Sam High, Halliday, Spetz, Nick Plautz, and Jonah Jangula. Lumberjacks goalie Nate Johnston made 14 saves in the shutout while North Stars goalies Jacob Mitchell made 40 saves of 47 and Griffin Foster made 13 saves of 16. 
 
Mid Cities Jr. Stars 0 @ Texas Brahmas 4 - Thanks to a shutout from Bryce Runyan the Texas Brahmas won at home against the Mid Cities Jr. Stars, 4-0. The Brahmas got on the board in the 1st with a goal from Leevi Selanne. In the 2nd they added two to their lead with goals from Tyler Blanchard and Andrue Trelstad. The lone goal of the 3rd came from Selanne of the Brahmas. Goalie Bryce Runyan of the Brahmas made 20 saves in the shout out while Noah Kinsinger of the Jr. Stars made 34 of 38.  
 
Great Falls Americans 3 @ Missoula Junior Bruins 2 - The Great Falls Americans won against the Missoula Junior Bruins, 3-2. Henry Chavez of the Americans scored in the 2nd before Zane Cluphf of the Bruins could score. In the 3rd Brody Boyce of the Americans scored followed by a goal from Cayce Balk of the Junior Bruins only to be answered by a goal from Blake Nerney of the Americans. Goalie Matt Maniglia of the Americans made 30 saves of 32 while Seth Daniel of the Junior Bruins made 34 of 37. 
 
Yellowstone Quake 0 @ Bozeman Icedogs 4 - Thanks to a shutout from Conan Hayton the Bozeman Icedogs won at home against the Yellowstone Quake, 4-0. The only goal in the 1st came from Will Kutch of the Icedogs. In the 2nd the Icedogs scored twice with goals from Luek McKay and Duncan McGarrah. In the 3rd Kutch scored again for the Icedogs. Goalie Conan Hayton of the Icedogs made 24 saves in the shutout while Michael Allman of the Quake made 44 saves of 48. 
 
Gillette Wild 0 @ Sheridan Hawks 10 - The Sheridan Hawks defeated the Gillette Wild at home, 10-0. The Hawks had three goals in the 1st with two coming from Logan Syrup and one from Anthony Fortin. In the 2nd the Hawks put up four more goals from Mike Kocsis, Peyton Kesselhon, Stepan Ruta, and Briar Sylvester. The Hawks added three to their lead in the 3rd with goals from Kocsis, Jacob Cummings, and Fortin. Hawks goalie Luke Fundator made 18 saves in the shutout while Wild goalies Brad Muzzarelli made 23 of 28 and Shane Phillips made 32 of 37.
