Knights forward Murphy signs NAHL tender
March 20, 2020
The New England Knights of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward Nolan Murphy has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Janesville Jets of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.
Murphy, 18, just completed his first season of playing junior hockey in the NA3HL for the Knights. The 6’2/185 lbs. native of Hyde Park, Massachusetts, led the Knights in scoring during the 2019-20 season with 72 points (36 goals, 36 assists) in 47 games played.
Murphy was also selected to and played in the 2020 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament back in February where he had three points in three games while playing for the Coastal Division team.
Murphy becomes the first player from the New England Knights this season who has signed an NAHL tender agreement.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 2, 2020.
