Friday Finals: Steel post upset of Bulls

Great Falls forward Jake Hayes had four goals in a 10-2 win on Friday to keep the Americans undefeated on the 2020-21 season.

North Iowa Bulls 2 @ New Ulm Steel 4 - This was a close game up until the last minute. Zach Maillette started off the game with a goal for the Steel. Klye Heffron matches that effort and gets a goal for his team the Bulls. Zach Maillette not having puts another into the back of the net securing the lead for the Steel. Ethan Macdonald grows the difference with another goal for the steel. Carson Jones of the Bulls puts another mark on the scoreboard for his team. James Spaargaren of the Steel brings home the win with one last goal to secure the upset of the division-leading Bulls.

Great Falls Americans 10 @ Yellowstone Quake 2 - Both teams finished the first period tied 2 to 2. This close match up did not last for long as the Great Falls drove up their score board. The final tally of the night was in favor of Great Falls 10 to 2. The two Yellow Stone goals were earned by Austin Lawless and Dylan Rumpke. This was the first goal of the season for lawless. The Great Falls goals were earned by: Harley Nyhus, Connor Doyle, Cole Komarek, Tommy Janes, Tyler Lorring, Nick Silance, and Jake Hayes. Jake Hayes accumulated four goals for himself tonight, which kept the Americans undefeated.

Butte Cobras 4 @ Gillette Wild 8 - Gillette Wild dominated the first period three to one. The three goals for the Wild were scored by Nathan Fanning, Mitchell Vekich, and Tristan Baker. The solo goal for the Cobras was produced by Cory Kane. Butte not liking what they are seeing do their best to make up the difference. Nick Bradshaw of the Cobras puts two back to back goals into the net. Carter Merritt puts the Cobras in their place with a goal for the Wild. Finishing up the second period is a goal from Declan Young of the Wild. Jadyn Hofacker of the Cobras sneaks one past Luc Haggit, the Wild’s goaltender. The Wild unphased by this score three more goals to finish up the game. These three goals were scored by Carter Merritt, Declan Young, and Victor Nukovic. 

Missoula Junior Bruins 2 @ Helena Bighorns 4 - Gavin Tritt gives the puck to Ian Mcintosh creating a scoring opportunity that he capitalized on. Missoula is on the board. Helena Bighorns dominate the second period with three goals. Two goals by Harlan Wojtusik and one by Gavyn Galloway. Liam Bland of Missoula and Harlan Wojtusik of Helena ignited the game with a fight five seconds into the third period. Lima Bland of Missoula takes his anger and aims it at the net for a goal. Wyatt Hanson of Helena gets the last goal of the game.

Oklahoma City Blazers 6 @ Texas RoadRunners 2 - The penalties this game more than double the number of total goals. Colton Sebastian of the Blazers got the first goal of the night. Artem Korolev of the Blazers tucked one into the net. The Blazers now have the momentum. Three more goals were obtained by the Blazers in the second period. Two goals by Noah Henslee and one goal by Artem Korolev. Tim Marisco of the RoadRunners is furious! He releases two pucks into the back of the net and gets his team on the scoreboard. Noah Henslee of the Blazers puts the nail in the coffin with one last goal.

Peoria Mustangs 2 @ Rochester Grizzlies 4 - The teams skated together in the first period fending each other off from creating any goals. Justin Wright of Rochester put the first point on the board six minutes into the second period. Quinton Murphy of Peoria quickly matched his efforts and scored one for his squad. The back and forth begins! Justin Wright delivered a goal for the Grizzlies. Jaycob Bland of Peoria tied the game up again. Yotaro Nakadate broke the tie for the Grizzlies. The final goal of the night is from Hunter Williams for Rochesters. The Grizzlies will sleep well tonight with a still remaining undefeated record.

Milwaukee Power 2 @ Wausau RiverWolves 3 - Max Beste of Wausau started off the game with a goal only three minutes into the first. Then Isaac Wickersheim of Wausau followed suit and earned himself a goal. Wausau now has the most dangerous lead in hockey; they began to feel too comfortable. Milwaukee saw their opening and they took it. Maxwell Erstad of Milwaukee puts one into the back of the net. Not long after that Garrett of Milwaukee puts  a point on the scoreboard. The game is all tied up going into the third period. Max Beste of Wausau scores and he wins the game for his team.
