NA3HL announces monthly player awards for November

December 2, 2020

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) has announced its monthly player awards for the month of November. The Bauer Hockey NA3HL Forward of the Month is Jacob Cummings of the Sheridan Hawks. The Bauer Hockey NA3HL Defenseman of the Month is Gunner Moore of the Atlanta Capitals. The Vaughn NA3HL Goaltender of the Month is Cole Walter of the Peoria Mustangs. Only players who are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the NA3HL monthly awards.

Bauer Hockey NA3HL Forward of the Month: Jacob Cummings, Sheridan Hawks

No NA3HL skater has posted more points to start the season than Sheridan’s Cummings, who logged at least two points in each of his six outings in November to push his totals to a stunning 14g-30a—44pts in just 11 total games. Opening the month with a two-game set against Butte, Cummings notched three goals and two assists to rebound from his first pointless game of the year at the end of October. From there, Cummings put up back-to-back four-point outings against Bozeman, recording four assists in the first tilt and two goals and two helpers in round two, then capped off his stellar month by further upping the ante. Grabbing his first hat-trick of the season last Friday, Cummings bagged his first five-point game of the month, then followed up with another five-point effort the following day. With a total of 10g-13a—23pts in six November games, Cummings led the entire NA3HL in goals and points this month.

Bauer Hockey NA3HL Defenseman of the Month: Gunner Moore, Atlanta Capitals

Entering the month of November with no goals on the season, Atlanta’s Moore made the most of his four games this month to take Defenseman of the Month honors. The Las Vegas native erupted for goals in three straight games before capping things off with two assists on the 8th. Though his on-ice action was limited, Moore was key in three Capitals wins. He posted the game-winning tally on Nov. 1 against Louisiana, then potted a regulation goal and the shootout winner against Oklahoma City on the 7th before setting up the game-winner with one of his two helpers the next day. Moore was as stingy in his own end of the rink as he was prolific at the other, posting a +10 rating in just four games and recording no lower than a +1 in any single outing.

Peoria’s Walter saw a heavy workload this month, but stepped up with some steady starts for the Mustangs en route to a 5-1-0 record, 1.59 GAA, .942 save percentage and one shutout in November. After kicking things off with a pair of consecutive wins over Milwaukee — stopping 33 and 31 pucks in each respective contest — Walter suffered his first loss of the month against division-leading Rochester, but rebounded the following day with a signature 36-save effort to hand the Grizzlies their first loss of the season. It was smooth sailing for Walter from there, as he picked up a pair of wins over Wausau, including his first shutout of the season. Walter is now 6-2-0 on the year, with a 1.91 GAA and .927 save percentage in his second NA3HL campaign.
