Hawks and Americans win on New Year's Eve
Sheridan 9 @ Yellowstone 5 – Lucas Gudz, Tony Brings, and Blake Billings all scored two goals to lead the Hawks to a 9-5 road win in Yellowstone, which was their 14th straight win as Sheridan continues to pace the Frontier Division. The Hawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead with goals from Brings, Logan Syrup, Gavin Miller, and Dakota Kott. The Quake stormed back with four straight goals from Dylan Rumpke, Jack Harris, Jack Luttringer, and Vincent Anderson to tie the game at 4-4 early in the 3rd period. The Hawks then stormed back with four straight goals to put the game on ice as Gudz scored twice, Brings added his second of the game and Billings also scored twice to secure the 9-5 win. Joe McCormick had the other goal for the Quake. Antonio Tarantino made 33 saves in the win, while Matt Schoer made 53 saves in the loss.
Butte 0 @ Great Falls 7 – Behind a 31-save shutout from Trever Mellen, the Great Falls Americans kept pace with the Frontier Division lead with a convincing 7-0 shutout on New Year’s Eve. The Americans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st period with goals from Micah Serino and Garret Weisenburger. The lead swelled to 5-0 in the 2nd period as the Americans scored three more goals in a four-minute span, which included tallies from Henry Chavez, Jake Hayes, and Bryson Fletcher. Fletcher would add his second of the game in the 3rd period and Brindamour Beard would score his first goal of the season to make it a 7-0 final. Cobras goalie Skyler Coard made 60 saves in the loss.
