WarHawks and Rhinos win on Wednesday
Willmar 6 @ Alexandria 1 – Lukas Haugen made 29 saves and Michael Sweetland and Alex Kupka each scored twice to lead Willmar to a 6-1 road win in Alexandria on Wednesday. It was all WarHawks from the opening drop of the puck as Sweetland and Kupka, along with Tommy Raith all scored in the opening period to put Willmar up 3-0. Kupka added his second of the game in the 2nd period to make it 4-0 and Sweetland added his second goal of the game, along with a tally from Austin Jozwick in the 3rd period, to complete the Willmar scoring. Nikolai Rajala had the lone goal for the Blizzard and Bailey Rosch made 36 saves in the losing effort.
Louisiana 2 @ El Paso 6 – Six different players scored as the El Paso Rhinos took the second game of their three-game series against the Drillers with a 6-2 win on Wednesday. Things were close after one period as El Paso held a 3-2 lead with goals from Noah Easterson, Andrew Hill, and Jacob Robinson, while the Drillers counters with goals from Spencer Dixon and Mark Kurliandchyk. The Rhinos seized control of the game in the 2nd period with three more goals to make it 6-2 as Eric Easterson, Ian Carpenter, and John Mulvihill all scored. Rhinos goalie Rustam Kulizade made 23 saves in the win, while Kyle Karoleski made 19 saves in the loss.
