Rochester forward Fodstad makes NCAA commitment
The Rochester Grizzlies of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that veteran forward Joey Fodstad has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Concordia College in the MIAC.
Fodstad, 20, has 19 points for the first-place Grizzlies this season scoring nine goals and adding 10 assists in 26 games played. The 6’1/190 lbs. native of Rogers, MN, has 104 points in 110 career NA3HL games over the course of three seasons.
“My time with the Grizzlies has really helped me mature as a person and as a hockey player,” said Fodstad. “I’m grateful to my coaches and teammates that continue to push me to up my game. It has definitely made me feel ready for college. I’m very excited for the next couple of months as we feel like we are a real contender for the Fraser Cup.”
“We are very proud of Joey’s accomplishments in the three years with the Grizzlies and excited for this opportunity for him,” Grizzlies Head Coach Chris Ratzloff stated. “He’s a great young man and has taken a big step on the ice this season to being a well-rounded player to go along with his offensive talents.”
Concordia College Head Coach Chris Howe echoed Ratzloff’s sentiments regarding Fodstad stating “We are excited to add Joey to our program at Concordia. Joey is an outstanding player who has passion for the game and loves the process of getting better every day.”
Fodstad is one of three Grizzlies to play for Rochester since day one of the team’s inception in 2018-19, joining Peyton Hart and Matt DeRosa. Fodstad ranks second on the team in all-time games played. He also played three games in the NAHL with the Minnesota Wilderness during the 2019-20 season.
