Bulls, WarHawks, Jr. Hat Tricks all win on Wednesday
North Iowa 7 @ Granite City 3 – Carson Jones had two goals and an assist as the Bulls jumped out to a 5-1 lead and never looked back in a 7-3 win over rival Granite City. Granite City was first to get on the board as Noah Bissett scored the game’s first goal just over five minutes into the contest. The Bulls then scored five straight goals to take a 5-1 lead into the 2nd intermission, which included goals from Jones, Garrett Freeman, Cal Nauss, Jase Sofo and Lucas Jorgenson. Jones would then add his second goal of the game in the 3rd period and Kyle Heffron also scored. Ben Anderson scored two goals in the 3rd period for the Lumberjacks. Max Gutjahr made 27 saves in the win, while Josh Weyandt made 21 saves in the loss.
Willmar 8 @ New Ulm 1 – The WarHawks stayed hot with a comfortable 8-1 win over the Steel on Wednesday. Dylan Gajewski had two goals and Hunter Bjorge had three assists in the win. After a scoreless 1st period, the WarHawks went ahead 3-0 in the 2nd period, which included two goals from Gajewski and another from Jonah Jangula. The Steel made it a 3-1 game later in the period as Tommy Michelsen scored the team’s lone goal. In the 3rd period, the WarHawks pulled away with five goals as Jeremiah Konkel, Gavin Uckele, Isaiah Thomas, Jack Willis, and Cole Wigestrand all scored. WarHawks goalie Cooper Olson made 29 saves in the win, while Steel goalie AJ Cohen made 39 saves in the loss.
