El Paso forward Schneider signs NAHL tender
The El Paso Rhinos of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Cole Schneider has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Springfield Jr. Blues of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.
Schneider, 18, just completed his second full season of playing junior hockey and first season in the NA3HL. The 5’11/163 lbs. native of Long Grove, IL, was 2nd in team scoring during the 2020-21 season for the Rhinos, recording 60 points, including a team-leading 25 goals, to go along with 35 assists in 39 games played.
Schneider spent the 2019-20 season playing in the NAHL for the Springfield Jr. Blues and Minot Minotauros. He began the season in Minot, playing in three games and then was traded to Springfield. In 38 games for the Jr. Blues, Schneider recorded 11 points.
Schneider recently played in the 2021 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament, where he shined for Team Bauer, recording three goals in two games during the event.
Prior to playing junior hockey, Schneider played his youth hockey for both the Chicago Mission and Team Illinois.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which includes one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2021 NAHL Draft.
