El Paso defenseman Sessa signs NAHL tender
The El Paso Rhinos of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that defenseman Gino Sessa has signed a North American Hockey League tender agreement with the El Paso Rhinos team that will be taking to the ice in the NAHL’s South Division beginning in the 2021-22 season.
Sessa, 19, just completed his first season of junior hockey in the NA3HL with the Rhinos. The 6’1/185 lbs. native of Bloomfield Hills, MI, was one of the better blueliners in the NA3HL this season, leading the Rhinos in defensive scoring with 34 points (7 goals, 27 assists) in 38 games played this past season.
His 34 points ranked 9th among all NA3HL defensemen this past season and he was selected to and played in the 2021 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for Team Krampade.
Prior to playing in the NA3HL, Sessa played high school hockey in Michigan for Detroit Country Day School in addition to the MHA 18U AAA team that participated in various NAPHL events.
He is the fifth Rhinos player this past season who has signed an NAHL tender to date.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which includes one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2021 NAHL Draft.
