Oklahoma City forward Philippov makes NCAA commitment
The Oklahoma City Hockey Club of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Petr Philippov has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Gustavus Adolphus in the MIAC.
Philippov, 20, must completed his first season playing in the NA3HL and third season overall of playing junior hockey. The 5’9/161 lbs. native of St. Petersburg, Russia, began the 2020-21 season playing in the NAHL for the New Mexico Ice Wolves, appearing in nine regular season games.
Philippov would then join Oklahoma City in February and make an immediate impact, appearing in 16 regular season games and posting 6 goals and 21 assists for 27 points, leading the team to their first ever playoff appearance in the NA3HL.
During the Fraser Cup Playoffs, Philippov would go on to tally 3 goals and 6 assists in 8 games leading the team to the Fraser Cup Semi-Finals.
Philippov played youth hockey in Russia and Slovakia before coming to the United States.
