Willmar defenseman Cox makes college commitment
The Willmar WarHawks of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that defenseman Nathan Cox has committed to play ACHA Division I hockey for Liberty University.
Cox, 19, just completed his first season of junior hockey, which was spent between the NA3HL and the NAHL. The 5’10/181 lbs. native of Orchard Park, NY, began the season in the NAHL with the Johnstown Tomahawks.
During the second half of the season, Cox joined the WarHawks in the NA3HL, where he recorded three points in 22 games played.
“Liberty University is getting a great person and defenseman in Nathan Cox. He was a huge part of our defensive core down the stretch run last year. He moves the puck well, has good vision, and is solid defensively. We wish him nothing but the best going forward,” said WarHawks head coach Kirk Olimb.
Prior to playing in the NA3HL and NAHL this past season, Cox spent a year playing for the Northstar Knights 18U team in the NAPHL during the 2019-20 season, where he played in 15 career games.
