NA3HL announces Bauer Hockey Stars of the Week

October 5, 2021

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending October 3, 2021. The divisional stars of the week are awards given each week of the regular season to the top-performing players in each of the five divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

Central Division Star of the Week: Sam VanderHoeven, F, Oregon Tradesmen

VanderHoeven put on a show with back-to-back hat-tricks against St. Louis last week en route to a 6g-3a—9pts line on the weekend. After netting a triple on Friday, the third-year veteran bagged another three goals and added three helpers as well. After posting two goose-eggs to open the year, VanderHoeven has exploded for 9g-4a—11pts during his current four-game point streak and ranks second among NA3HL skaters in goal-scoring.

2nd Star: Connor Mahoney, F, Rochester Grizzlies

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Ethan Chesney, F, Peoria Mustangs — Zach Dosan, G, Wausau Cyclones — Max Erstad, F, Milwaukee Power — Austin Meers, F, Rochester Grizzlies — Spencer Northway, G, Milwaukee Power — Tristan Trudel, F, Peoria Mustangs

East Division Star of the Week: Tyler Zembrzycki, F, Long Beach Sharks

Zembrzycki did his part last week, notching 2g-5a—7pts in two games to help the division-leading Sharks continue their hot start. Zembrzycki entered the week on something of a cold streak with just two helpers in his prior four outings, but erupted for a goal and four assists on Friday — his second game of the year with three or more points — then followed up with another goal and an assist on Sunday. The native of East Islip, NY leads his team with 4g-8a—12pts in seven games this year.

2nd Star: Tima Basarab, F, Bay State Bobcats

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Jake Weikel, F, Long Beach Sharks

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Samuel Feamster, F, Helena Bighorns

Feamster had a big September to earn Forward of the Month honors, and if his first action of October is any indication, he’s not slowing down any time soon. The Pueblo, Colo., native posted his remarkable third hat-trick of the young season and second in as many games on Friday while notching two assists as well, then recorded another goal and an assist on Saturday to keep his season-long run of six consecutive multi-point outings alive. Feamster boasts 12g-7a—19pts in just six games this year, good for the outright league lead in goals and a share of the league lead in points.

2nd Star: Ian Bowman, F, Bozeman Icedogs

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Liam Bland, F, Helena Bighorns — Maxim Currie, G, Badlands Sabres — Keegan Ferguson, F, Yellowstone Quake — Carson Kuche, F, Gillette Wild — Brandon Lakusta, G, Yellowstone Quake — Isaac Young, F, Gillette Wild

South Division Star of the Week: Mason Mara, F, Texas Brahmas

Mara and the Brahmas kicked off their season in style last week, knocking off Oklahoma City three times in North Richland Hills. Mara was in fine form from the first puck drop with two points in each contest, scoring twice on Friday, posting a goal and a helper on Saturday, and again lighting the lamp twice on Sunday. Mara’s 5g-1a—6pts have him tied for second in team scoring through Texas’ first week of action.

2nd Star: Ty Neckar, D, Texas RoadRunners

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Aleksandr Gamzatov, F, Texas Brahmas — Tyler Love, F, Texas RoadRunners — Camden Pendleton, G, El Paso Rhinos — Connor Thompson, F, El Paso Rhinos

West Division Star of the Week: Jeremiah Konkel, F, Willmar Warhawks

Konkel saw the ice just once last week, but made quite the impact in that time with six points in Willmar’s win over the Blizzard on Saturday. The Bloomington, Minn., native scored twice — his second multi-goal game of the year — and set up four of his team’s other goals, marking his first game with more than four points this year. Konkel boasts 5g-7a—12pts in four games on the year, ranking him third in the league with an average of three points per game.

2nd Star: Jack Campion, F, Mason City Toros

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Ben Anderson, F, Granite City Lumberjacks — Wilson Dahlheimer, F, Granite City Lumberjacks — Ryan Knight, G, Mason City Toros — Brady O’Brien, D, Willmar Warhawks
