NA3HL announces monthly player awards for October

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) has announced its monthly player awards for the month of October.  The Forward of the Month is Erik Vrkoc of the Texas Brahmas.  The Defenseman of the Month is Taber Gutschick of the Helena Bighorns. The Goaltender of the Month is D’Mar McCoy of the Northeast Generals. Only players who are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the NA3HL monthly awards.

 

Bauer Hockey NA3HL Forward of the Month: Erik Vrkoc, Texas Brahmas

Texas Brahmas forward Erik Vrkoc, 19, led the NA3HL in scoring during the month of October as the Brahmas moved to the top of the South Division standings with an undefeated record. The 6’0/180 lbs. native of Mnichovice, Czech Republic recorded 25 points (13 goals, 12 assists) in 11 games played during the month and was a remarkable +18. Vrkoc recorded at least a point in every game played in October and had seven multi-point games. Four of his 13 goals during the month were game-winners. Vrkoc is currently tied for 5th in NA3HL scoring so far during the 2021-22 season.

Bauer Hockey NA3HL Defenseman of the Month: Taber Gutschick, Helena Bighorns

Led by defenseman Taber Gutschick, 19, the Helena Bighorns continued their undefeated season with a perfect record in the month of October. The 5’10/160 lbs. native of Colorado Springs, CO, tied for the NA3HL scoring lead during the month with 25 points (2 goals, 23 assists) in just nine games played. The NAPHL and Colorado Springs Tigers grad had six multi-point games during the month and recorded at least a point in all nine games. For the season, Gutschick leads all NA3HL defensemen in scoring with 28 points, which also ranks tied for 3rd among all NA3HL players.

NA3HL Goaltender of the Month: D’Mar McCoy, Northeast Generals

Northeast Generals goaltender D’Mar McCoy, 18, made his NA3HL debut in October and did not disappoint. The 6’1/165 lbs. native of Philadelphia, PA, helped the Generals maintain their undefeated record by going a perfect 5-0 during the month. McCoy allowed just six goals in five starts during the month as he stopped 118 of a possible 124 shots, which was good for a 1.20 goals against average and a .952 save percentage, which both currently rank in the Top 3 in the NA3HL. That also included McCoy’s first career NA3HL shutout as he made 32 saves in a 2-0 win over Long Beach on October 31st.
