Willmar defenseman O'Brien gets call to NAHL

January 25, 2022

The Willmar WarHawks, proud members of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL), are excited to announce that defenseman Brady O'Brien has been called up to the Chippewa Steel of the North American Hockey League.

O'Brien was called up to join the Steel for their most recent series against Springfield where he played in both games.

The 20-year-old O'Brien is from White Bear Lake, MN and is in his second season with the WarHawks. So far this season, he has recorded 27 points (5 goals, 22 assists) in 32 games played with Willmar.

“It’s a great accomplishment for Brady to be called up. We’re extremely excited for him and know he’s capable of doing well at that level,” said WarHawks head coach Kirk Olimb. “Brady is one of the hardest working kids I've coached and certainly deserves this opportunity."

“This call-up once again sends another great message to the guys playing at this level that they are being watched and are going to get opportunities as they come. As I've said before, each guy playing in our league wants to move up and we’re hopeful we’ll continue to have more guys being called up.”

O’Brien put up 19 points in 40 games played last season with Willmar and was selected to and played in the 2021 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament.

The Willmar WarHawks congratulate Brady O'Brien on his call-up to the North American Hockey League and wish him further success as the 2021-22 season continues.
