Granite City forward Butler signs NAHL tender

April 1, 2022

Granite City forward Andrew Butler played in the 2022 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament.

The Granite City Lumberjacks of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward Andrew Butler has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Minnesota Magicians/Eagle River, WI of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.

Butler, 18, is in his first year playing junior hockey in the NA3HL with the Jacks. The 5’9/150 lbs. native of Germantown, WI, put up 15 goals and 21 assists for 36 points in 41 regular season games played during the 2021-22 season.

He was also selected to and played in the 2022 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament in Pittsburgh, PA, back in February.

“Andrew is a kid who expects his absolute best for himself when he steps on the ice. We love that about him. He’s a kid that plays with a huge heart on his sleeve. We are super excited for Butler and his opportunity with the Magicians,” said Associate Head Coach DJ Vold.

In nine Fraser Cup Playoff Games this season, Butler recorded six points as the Lumberjacks made it all the way to the Fraser Cup Championship Game.

Butler is the 12th Jack to have some sort of advancement with the NAHL. He joins the list of 6 Lumberjacks signing a tender. We have 6 other Jacks who have been called up during the season.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on November 1st. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2022 NAHL Draft.
