Weikel also selected to and participated in the 2022 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament, where he had one goal in two games played.
Overall in his two NA3HL seasons, he played in 80 regular season games and had 50 points.
“Jake was the obvious choice to wear the “C” for the Sharks this season and the organization couldn’t have been prouder of the leadership Jake exemplified throughout the season. Jake set a great example for all the young players in the locker room. His story from going from healthy scratch the first weekend 2 seasons ago to Captain and Top Prospect, and now a ACHA D-1 Student Athlete is a great example of hard work and dedication paying off. Jake leadership and play was an integral part of the Shark’s success this season,” said Sharks head coach Chris Lloyd. “WVU is getting a tremendous player and great human being for the next 4 years. We couldn’t be more proud of calling Jake an alumni of the organization. Jake plans on studying Biology at WVU. Congratulations to Jake and his family on his commitment to West Virginia University!”
