Granite City forward Daikawa makes NCAA commitment
The Granite City Lumberjacks of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Kullan Daikawa has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Daikawa, 20, is in his second and final season playing junior hockey, which has been spent this season between the NA3HL and the NAHL.
The 6’0/165 lbs. native of Lino Lakes, MN, began the 2021-22 season with the Lumberjacks in the NA3HL. Daikawa appeared in 27 regular season games and recorded 38 points (16 goals, 22 assists), which also included West Division Star of the Week honors for Novemeber 22-28.
Following the NA3HL Showcase in December, Daikawa was called up to the NAHL to play for the Minnesota Wilderness. In 19 NAHL games so far during the regular season, he has recorded 11 points (3 goals, 8 assists).
During the 2020-21 season, Daikawa played his rookie junior season for the Lumberjacks in the NA3HL, recording 17 points in 33 games played. Overall, he played in 60 games for the Jacks where he posted 20 goals and 35 assists.
“Kullan was a guy who made an impact all over the ice for us. There is a reason why after the Showcase the Wilderness were calling us to move him up. He’s a kid who holds himself to a high standard and has a tremendous work ethic. You don’t see that very often from players nowadays, but we were privileged to have Kullan set that standard in our locker room. Stout is getting a good one,” said Associate Head Coach DJ Vold.
Prior to playing the NA3HL and NAHL, Daikawa spent one season playing in the NAPHL for the Sioux Falls Power 18U team during the 2019-20 campaign.
