Helena defenseman Gutschick makes NCAA commitment
The Helena Bighorns of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that defenseman Taber Gutschick has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Nichols College.
Gutschick, 20, just completed his first season of playing in the NA3HL and second season of junior hockey overall. The 5’10/160 lbs. native of Colorado Springs, CO, had an incredible season for the Bighorns, which included a trip the 2022 Fraser Cup Championship.
During the 2021-22 season, Gutschick led all NA3HL defensemen in scoring with 67 points (8 goals, 59 assists) in 41 regular season games. For his efforts, he was named to the All-NA3HL 1st Team for the 2021-22 season. He was also named the NA3HL defenseman of the month for October 2021.
During the 2022 Fraser Cup Playoffs, Gutschick posted eight points in eight playoff games.
Prior to playing in the NA3HL, Gutschick played in the NAPHL for four seasons for the Colorado Springs Tigers. He played in the NAPHL 18U All-Star Game during the 2019-20 season and he also made his NAHL debut with the Topeka Pilots that season on November 8, 2019.
