Saturday Scores: Wild, Grizzlies roll to sweeps

Rochester forward Erik Hernborn had a goal and two assists in a 6-2 win on Saturday night.

Gillette 11 @ Sheridan 2 – It was another convincing win for the Wild as they put up 11 goals in a win over the Hawks, which completed a home-and-home sweep. Saizha Norwegian, Jace Johnson, and Sky Solig all scored twice in the win. Gillette jumped out to a 5-0 lead with goals from Solig, Johnson, Zack Slinger, Remington Richardson, and Todd Powassin. The Hawks tried to make some noise with a pair of goals from Makhai Sparks, but the Wild were simply too much, scoring six of the last seven goals, including two from Norwegian, the second from Johnson and Solig and others from Isaac Young and Anthony Foster. Dominic Hite made 21 saves in the win.

Wausau 2 @ Rochester 6 – The Grizzlies won their 9th straight game as they cruised to a 6-2 win over Wausau. Benjamin Tschida had two goals, which included one in the 1st period along with a goal from Zachary Laurila. Lyncoln Bielenberg-Howarth and Erik Hernborn scored in the 2nd period as Tschida and Maksim Lakic added 3rd period goals. Adam Wiggins and Gage Vierzba had the goals for the Cyclones. Kaleb Bents made 15 saves in the win, while Mitch Miscevich made 21 saves in the loss.

New Mexico 7 @ Austin 1 – It was another dominating performance for New Mexico in a 7-1 win over Austin. Jaden Stiller had a hat-trick in the win. The Ice Wolves scored five goals in the 1st period, which included two from Stiller and others from Spencer Lund, Jo Kawagishi, and Hunter Fischbach. Zak Wentworth added a 2nd period goal and Stiller completed his hat-trick in the 3rd period. Al Evanyk had the lone goal for the Ice Bats in the loss. New Mexico goalie Pierson Hiaslet made 11 saves in the win.

TX Brahmas 11 @ Mid Cities 2 – The Brahmas offense was on full display again as they beat Mid Cities, 11-2. Benjamin Mondou had a hat-trick and an assist and Michael Imala had five points in the win. Imala and Mondou both scored in the 1st period along with Ryan Spreyne to take a 3-1 lead. The lead swelled to 6-1 in the 2nd period as Mondou scored again along with goals from Luke Artukovich and Kirill Konoplianko. Texas added five more goals in the 3rd period, including another from Mondou, Imala, Konoplianko, and Colin Stow and Adam Goldstein. Andrew Kolka and Ilnur Madiarov scored for the Stars in the loss. Josh Purpura made 17 saves in the win.

Granite City 6 @ New Ulm 5 – The Lumberjacks survived a scare from the Steel and took home a 6-5 win on Saturday. Zak Kennett, Hayden Johnson, and Brett Robinson each scored two goals apiece in the win. The Steel got two goals from Blake Biermaier, and others from Conner Souz, Jack Laser, and Griffin Lennes in the loss. Ryan Wallin made 32 saves in the win, while Dixon Ehlers made 22 saves in the loss.

Oregon 5 @ Milwaukee 2 – The Tradesmen continued their winning ways as a hat-trick from Max Rotsaert led them to a 5-2 win in Milwaukee. The Power jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st period with goals from Patrick Toomey and Max Erstad. After that, it was all Tradesmen as Rotsaert scored in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd periods and Max Cohen and Bryce Stensrud also added goals. Tyler Fromolz made 26 saves in the win, while Brett Holmer made 21 saves in the loss.

Alexandria 4 @ Minnesota 1 – Blizzard goalie Alex Lamont made 26 saves to lead his team to a 4-1 road win in Minnesota. The Blizzard jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to a 1st period goal from Charlie Larsen and 2nd period goals from Joe Gronholz and Karsten Senden. The Loons made it 3-1 in the 3rd period with their lone goal from Dmitri Kuleshov, but a goal later in the 3rd period from Logan Lukasezck made the final 4-1. Keaton French made 34 saves in the loss.

Bozeman 5 @ Badlands 6 (SO) – Hunter Walla had two goals and an assist to lead the Sabres to a 6-5 shootout win and weekend sweep of the Icedogs. Bozeman jumped out to a 5-2 lead through two periods thanks to two goals from Dominik Hauer, and others from Said Ayala, Kole Morris, and Braden Koliha. Walla and Ian Vannelli scored in the first two periods for the Sabres. The Sabres then stormed back in the 3rd period with three goals from Walla, Brady Ridnour, and Dawson Wirth. Jack Walters ended up with the shootout winner. Brady Devries made 50 saves in the win, while Sean Smer made 42 saves in the loss.

Yellowstone 3 @ Butte 4 (OT) – The Cobras erased leads of 2-1 and 3-2 and came back to defeated the Quake, 4-3 in overtime, completing a weekend sweep. Cade Wessman, Patrick Crooks, and Nick Bradshaw all had goals in regulation for the Cobras, while Tyler Tosch netted the OT-winner. All three Quake goals came from Nick Cofer, who had a hat-trick. Caleb Cross made 43 saves in the win, while John Hughes made 43 saves in the loss.
