Sunday Wrap-Up: Ice Wolves complete three-game sweep

Danbury forward Nick Rogers had two goals and an assist to lead his team to a 4-2 win over the visiting Bobcats on Sunday.

New Mexico 5 @ Mid Cities 2 – New Mexico got goals from five different players as they completed a three-game sweep of the Stars thanks to a 5-2 win on Sunday. The Stars led 2-1 early in the 3rd period thanks to a pair of goals from Andrew Kolka, while Fletcher Burnett had a 2nd period goal for New Mexico. Late in the 3rd period, the Ice Wolves scored four goals in a four minute span to pull out the 5-2 win as Jaden Stiller, Evan Axell, Liam Mooney, and Jo Kawagishi all scored. Krzysztof Jakubowski made 13 saves in the win, while Cole Eckert made 59 saves in the loss.

Bay State 2 @ Danbury 4 – Danbury forward Nick Rogers had two goals and an assist to lead his team to a 4-2 win over the visiting Bobcats. The Jr. Hat Tricks opened up a 3-0 lead with goals from Antonio Felidi, Seth Beagle, and the first from Rogers. Bay State cut the lead down to 3-2 in the 3rd period with goals from Jake Rossignol and Landen Schoonover, but a power play goal from Rogers later in the period secured the 4-2 win. Braden Henderson made 21 saves in the win, while Aiden McGraw made 28 saves in the loss.

Wausau 4 @ Milwaukee 3 – Ricky Nelson scored twice to lead the Cyclones to a 4-3 road win in Milwaukee. After a scoreless 1st period, Wausau took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd period with goals from Nelson and Kalob Paquin. The Power then took control with three straight goals from Tommy Kundinger, Bryce Garber, and Jack Wojnowski to take a 3-2 lead. Late in the 3rd period, Wausau got another goal from Nelson and one from Gabe Randel with :33 seconds remaining for the game-winner. Mitch Miscevich made 31 saves in the win and Brett Holmer made 27 saves in the loss.

Oregon 3 @ Peoria 1 – Tradesmen goalie Tyler Fromolz made 35 saves to lead his team to a 3-1 road win in Peoria. The game was scoreless through the first two periods. In the 3rd period, Oregon scored first thanks to a goal from Carter Watters. Peoria tied the game at 1-1 just over a minute later as Jaycob Bland scored on the power play. Later in the 3rd period, Oregon pulled away with goals from Will Falconer and Sam Knight. Mustangs goalie Cam Pendleton made 26 saves in the loss.

Norwich 3 @ Long Beach 4 (OT) – The Sharks moved into 4th place in the East as Nate Mastrony had the overtime-winning goal and an assist in a 4-3 win. Things were even at 1-1 after to periods as Sava Makarenko scored for the Sea Captains with Dylan Harbour answering for Long Beach. In the 3rd period, Long Beach got goals from Jack Fitzpatrick and Colin McPherren, while Jack Kinahan and Jacob Begich scored for Norwich. Mastrony’s game-winner came just over two minutes into OT and was his 11th goal of the season. Ryo Murakami made 34 saves in the win, while Brendan Pellerito made 23 saves in the loss.

Atlanta 5 @ TX RoadRunners 4 (OT) – The Capitals picked up their second win of the weekend in College Station as they edged the RoadRunners in overtime, 5-4. Defenseman Austin Micale had two goals and two assists in the win. The Capitals got goals from Anthony O’Neal and Micale, a 2nd period goal from Nick Mumford, and another goal from Micale in the 3rd period. Meanwhile, the RoadRunners got two goals from Jack Herron, one from Matvey Ivanov, and one from Tyler Love. Just one minute into overtime, Mumford scored his second goal of the game for the overtime-winner. Aleks Sumoski made 39 saves in the win, while Nash Wilson made 41 saves in the loss.

TX Brahmas 3 @ El Paso 2 – The Brahmas jumped out to an early lead and held off an El Paso comeback for a 3-2 win on Sunday. Texas led 2-0 early in the 2nd period with goals from Wyatt Witham and Benjamin Mondou. El Paso stormed back later in the 2nd period to tie the game at 2-2 as Trey Erramouspe and TJ Bayer both scored. Late in the 3rd period, the Brahmas netted the game-winner off the stick of Ryan Spreyne. Brahmas goalie Brendan Forden made 23 saves in the win, while Phillip O’Neill took the loss with 16 saves.
