NA3HL announces Bauer Hockey Stars of the Week

January 17, 2023

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending January 15, 2023. The Divisional Stars of the Week is an award given each week of the regular season to the top performing players in each of the five divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches. 

 

Central Division Star of the Week: Owen Van Tassel, Forward, Rochester Grizzlies

Rochester Grizzlies forward Owen Van Tassel totalled 4 points in two games as the Grizzlies picked up two wins over the weekend. The Lino Lakes, MN native, scored a goal in the first game of the weekend then followed up with a three point game with two goals and an assist. Van Tassel has appeared in 27 games this season and has totalled 28 points, a 1.04 PT/G average, with 10 goals and 18 assists. 

2nd Star: Leo Millan, D, Rochester Grizzlies

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Carter Walters, F, Oregon Tradesmen

 

East Division Star of the Week: Nate Mastrony, Forward, Long Beach Sharks

In three games, Sharks forward Nate Mastrony added 4 points onto his resume. The Minot, ND native mirrored his performance in game one to game three that he played in with a goal and an assist to combine for 4 points. Mastrony has played in 5 games with 4 points for the Sharks this season after coming over from the Bay State Bobcats. This season he has played in 33 games with 29 points including 11 goals and 18 assists. 

2nd Star: Andrew Yocum, G, Norwich Sea Captains

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Sky Solig, Forward, Gillette Wild

Gillette Wild forward Sky Solig continued to add to his point streak after appearing in two games to accumulate 5 points. Solig, a Warroad, MN native, scored a hat-trick and added an assist in his first game of the weekend, followed up by an assist the following night. This season Solig has played in 33 games and has totalled 50 points with 24 goals and 26 assists. 

2nd Star: Braden Cunningham, F, Helena Bighorns

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Mac Billings, D, Sheridan Hawks – Tyler Bloom, F, Helena Bighorns – Dominik Hauer, F, Bozeman Icedogs – Silas Hughes, F, Great Falls Americans – Ryan McKenna, F, Sheridan Hawks – Remington Richardson, F, Gillette Wild – Ryan Stowe, G, Great Falls Americans – Nikolai Waalery, G, Butte Cobras – Cade Wessman, F, Butte Cobras 


South Division Star of the Week: Jack Herron, Forward, Texas RoadRunners

RoadRunners forward Jack Herron added 5 points in the three games he appeared in. The Heath, TX native scored 3 goals and handed out 2 helpers in the 5 points he scored. Herron leads the top ranked South Division RoadRunners with 53 points in 33 games. 

2nd Star: Austin Micale, D, Atlanta Capitals

West Division Star of the Week: Gus Cantwell, Forward, New Ulm Steel

New Ulm Steel forward and leading scorer Gus Cantwell had an outstanding two game showing as he totalled 6 points. In a weekend series with Wilmar, the St. Paul, MN native added a hat-trick in his first game of the weekend followed up by a 2 goal and 1 assist night. This season, Cantwell has played in 32 games and has totaled 40 points with 22 goals and 18 assists. 

2nd Star: Cooper Kantola, D, New Ulm Steel

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Andrew Butler, F, Granite City Lumberjacks – Connor Graham, G, Mason City Toros – Zak Kennett, F, Granite City Lumberjacks – Sean Kenny, F, Alexandria Blizzard – Jordan Newpower, F, Mason City Toros
