Alexandria forward Gronholz signs NAHL tender
The Alexandria Blizzard of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Joe Gronholz has signed an NAHL tender agreemtn with the Minnesota Wilderness of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.
Gronholz, 19, is in his first full season and third season overall of playing junior hockey in the NA3HL, although he made his NA3HL debut back in 2019.
The 6’1/185 lbs. native of Alexandria, MN, is having a very good season thus far in 2022-23. Gronholz is 2nd in team scoring with 40 points (16 goals, 24 assists) in 25 games played to date. He has recorded at least a point in 21 of his 25 games played to date.
During the 2022 NAHL Draft, Gronholz was selected in the 10th round by the St. Cloud Norsemen. He made his NAHL debut earlier this season with the Norsemen on October 22, 2022.
During the 2021-22 season, Gronholz appeared in 10 NA3HL games with the Blizzard and recorded 17 points.
Gronholz also played high school hockey in Minnesota for Alexandria Area High for four seasons, which included recording 61 points during his senior hockey in 2021-22.
He made his NA3HL debut with the Blizzard on October 17, 2019.
In 40 career NA3HL regular season games, Gronholz has recorded 59 points.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on November 1st. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2023 NAHL Draft.
