Bighorns and Blizzard win on Day 1 of Fraser Cup
The 2023 NA3HL Fraser Cup Championship began on Wednesday, March 22nd with two exciting round-robin games as the Helena Bighorns and Alexandria Blizzard both brought home wins.
The 2023 Fraser Cup takes place from March 22-26 at the St. Peters Rec Plex in St. Peters, Missouri. Six teams have advanced to the season-ending event, which annually crowns the NA3HL National Playoff Champion.
A round-robin format with two pools has been implemented, with the top two teams in each pool advancing to the Semi-Finals, where they will then cross over to play the other top two teams from the other pool. The winners of the Semi-Finals will advance to the Fraser Cup Championship Game.
The six teams that advanced to the Fraser Cup Championship Tournament were seeded 1-5 based on their division’s performance against other divisions at the NA3HL Showcase. The wild card team is the 6th seed.

Day 1 Recaps
Fraser Cup Round-Robin, Pool A: Alexandria 4 vs. TX Brahmas 1 – Fueled by three goals in the 2nd period, the #1-seeded Alexandria Blizzard rolled to a 4-1 win over the Texas Brahmas in the opening game of the 2023 Fraser Cup Round-Robin. Ryan Hadland opened the scoring for the Blizzard with a goal midway through the 1st period. In the 2nd period, the Blizzard erupted for three goals to put the game out of reach as Wyatt Johnson, Cole Klingbeil, and Justin Kingery all found the back of the net to make it a 4-0 contest through two periods. In the 3rd period, the Brahmas got on the board with their lone goal of the game from George Keeley, who poked home a rebound. Blizzard goalie Konrad Kausch made 15 saves in the win, while Brendan Forden made 32 saves in the loss.
Fraser Cup Round-Robin, Pool B: Helena 4 vs. Oregon 3 (SO) – The Helena Bighorns erased an early Oregon lead and then bested the Tradesmen in a shootout, 4-3 during the second game of Day 1 at the Fraser Cup. Oregon got off to a great start, taking a 2-0 lead in the 1st period with goals from Carter Watters and Cooper Routheau. In the 2nd period, the Bighorns stormed back to tie the game at 2-2 as Tyler Alldredge and Camden Cunningham lit the lamp. In the 3rd period, the Bighorns took their first lead of the night as Luc Corbin scored. The Tradesmen tied the game late in regulation with their goalie pulled as Parker Murn scored on a shot from the point. After a 10-minute scoreless overtime, the Bighorns came away with the win in the shootout as Tyler Bloom netted the shootout-winner. Bighorns goalie Keaton French made 20 saves in the win, while Tradesmen goalie Tyler Fromolz made 24 saves in the loss.
