Northeast forward Kennedy makes NCAA commitment

May 4, 2023

The Northeast Generals of the North American 3 Hockey League are thrilled to announce that 4 year General Braeden Kennedy has committed to play his NCAA hockey at Framingham State!

Braeden began his journey with the Generals with the 18U team where he quickly made his mark.  Over his 2 years as a member of the NAPHL 18U Generals Braeden was the Captain of the team, led the team in several categories and was named an NAPHL All Star.  His hard nosed play, mixed with his high end skill helped him dominate at each level.

In his first year with the NA3HL Generals Kennedy had 59 points in 44 games along with 118 penalty minutes.  This year Kennedy added 51 points and and 79 penalty minutes.  Kennedy helped lead the NA3 Generals to the leagues best record in both years.  He also played some of his best hockey in big games scoring 7 goals and 13 points in 13 career playoff games.

Kennedy also was selected to and played in the 2023 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament, where he put up three points in three games.

“Braeden is everything you want in a player as a Coach.  He hits, he fights, he scores and he leads.  He is a great 200 foot hockey player that has gotten better each year he has been here.  His work ethic helped separate himself from his peers.  He is a tremendous young man that is going to do big things at Framingham.  We are so lucky we got Braeden for as long as we did.  He has set the tone and the bar extremely high for future Generals!” said Head Coach Darryl Locke.

“I am so proud of Braeden.  He went from a player cut from his High School team to a player our 18U Coach Eric Progen relied on very quickly.  His journey is amazing.  Cut from one team to finding a home with another.  From there he just kept improving.  He had a great first year in the NA3HL, and parlayed that into getting drafted in the NAHL by Amarillo, where he was one of the last cuts in the middle of September.  He came back and just was a beast on the ice.  His work ethic is crazy high.  He is truly an amazing Ladder of Development story.  We couldn’t be prouder of Braeden and are excited to watch him continue to improve at the next level.," said GM Bryan Erikson.
