Turek, 20, just completed his second season of playing junior hockey in the NA3HL for the Wild. The 5’11/185 lbs. native of North Branch, MN, was one of the top goalies in the NA3HL during his two seasons.

During the 2022-23 season, Turek appeared in 18 regular season games and posted a 12-4-2 record. His goals against average of 2.16 ranked 6th and his save percentage of .930 was tied for 10th. He was also selected to and played in the 2023 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the Frontier Division team.

“I’m super excited to be furthering my education and hockey career at Northland College next year. I was able to visit the campus at Northland and it felt immediately like home. Everyone was super nice and the campus itself was beautiful and had a relaxing atmosphere of being in the nature also being right by Lake Superior,” said Turek. “Northland was all around the perfect fit for me from being able to play high level hockey on an amazing team to the small class sizes to the nice facilities at Northland College. I’m ecstatic to be able to have this opportunity and pursue it at suck an amazing college.”

“When we started the process with Jake, we knew from the beginning it was going to be a great fit for everyone. He’s a hard-working player from the Midwest and came highly recommended by Coach Hayes and other scouts here in Wisconsin and Minnesota. He’s an intense competitor, challenges the shooter, and has the work ethic we are looking for, he’s going to compete for work and couldn’t be happier that he chose Northland,” said Northland head coach Seamus Gregory.
