Granite City forward Brouwer signs NAHL tender

The Granite City Lumberjacks of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Tanner Brouwer has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the New Hampshire Mountain Kings of the NAHL’s East Division.

Brouwer, 20, joined the Jacks from the NAHL just before roster freeze deadline in mid-January. In 11 regular season games, he recorded six points.

During the 2023 NA3HL Fraser Cup Championship, he recorded five points in four games and was named 2023 Fraser Cup Championship MVP.

“Tanner really caught his stride with us in the biggest moments of the year. He contributed with multiple big goals for us in the Fraser Cup. He’s a kid that has the frame and shot of an NHL player. We are excited for him to get another opportunity in the NAHL,” said Co-Head Coach DJ Vold.

Brouwer was originally drafted by the Springfield Jr. Blues in the 2022 NAHL Draft. He appeared in 18 games with the Jr. Blues during the 2022-23 regular season. He later played three games for the St. Cloud Norsemen.

Prior to playing junior hockey in the NA3HL and NAHL, Brouwer played four seasons of high school hockey in Minnesota for St. Thomas Academy.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on November 1st. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2023 NAHL Draft.
