RoadRunners goalie Hein makes NCAA commitment

The Texas Roadrunners of the NA3HL are proud to announce that Top Prospects goaltender Hunter Hein has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for SUNY-Cortland and will continue his education and hockey career this fall for the Red Dragons. 

Hein, 20, just completed his third season playing in the NA3HL for the RoadRunners. The 6’4/190 lbs. native of Phoenix, AZ, appeared in 35 games with the ‘Runners this past season and posted a 1.93 goals against average, a .937 save percentage and a 17-5-2 record. Hein also played in in the 2023 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the South Division team, which went undefeated at the event.

He was also tendered for this season by the Oklahoma Warriors in the NAHL.

Hein played his youth hockey for the Phoenix Jr.  Coyotes before joining the Roadrunners for the 2020 – 2021 season. Hein returned to the Runners for 2021 – 2022 and 2022 – 2023 Hein also in one game with the Odessa Jackalopes in the NAHL during the 2022-2023 season..

A two-time NA3HL Top Prospects goaltender and All-NA3HL selection, Hein carries a 4.4 GPA to go along with his 1.94 GAA and .937 SV% and lead the Roadrunners to their first regular season division championship.

Cortland Head Coach Joe Cardarelli had this to say about Hein’s commitment. “We are excited to add Hunter to the SUNY Cortland hockey program. While Hunter’s size, skill and ability puts him in a position to complete for playing time, I am as impressed with his character and know he will provide a positive impact to the team’s culture.”
