Saturday Scores: Rhinos keep pace in South with win

Thanks to a three-game winning streak, Ashton Ericksen and the Granite City Lumberjacks are back in 1st place in the West Division.

Texas Brahmas 1 @ El Paso Rhinos 3: In the first period the El Paso Rhinos scored a goal by Kyle Arias making the score 1-0. In the second period, both teams scored a goal for the Texas Brahmas it was Joey Crowley, for the El Paso Rhinos it was Kyle Arias making the score 2-1. In the third period, the El Paso Rhinos scored a goal by Austin Renaldo making the final score 3-1. Ryan Piekarski saved 25 shots for the win, while Brendan Forden saved 18 shots in the loss. 

Alexandria Blizzard 2 @ Granite City Lumberjacks 6: Starting off the night in the first the Granite City Lumberjacks scored two goals by Ashton Ericksen, and Sam Brennan, and one goal for the Alexandria Blizzards scored by Tyler Kludt making the score 2-1. In the second period, the Granite City Lumberjacks scored two goals by Justin Lesser, and Easton Portner making the score 4-1. In the third period, the Granite City Lumberjacks scored two more goals by Nolan Widman, and Jack Louko, and one goal for the Alexandria Blizzards scored by Eli Fletcher making the final score 6-2. Sam Schowalter saved 26 shots for the win, while Nolan LaCosse saved 46 shots in the loss.

West Bend Power 6 @ St. Louis Jr Blues 2: In the first period the West Bend Power scored two goals by Tegan Scheurer, and Jace Fitzgerald, and one goal for the St. Louis Jr Blues scored by Matthew Jost making the score 2-1. In the second period, the West Bend Power scored four more goals by Bryce Garber, two by Monte Goold, and one by William Leshnock making the score 6-1. In the third period, the Texas Road Runners scored two goals by Jackson Cox, and Kristoffer Svensson, and one goal for the Mid Cities Jr Stars scored by Jeffrey McKinney making the final score 10-3. Jimmy Packee saved 22 shots for the win, while Cole Eckert saved 25 and Jack Elliott saved 9 in the loss.

New Hampshire Jr Mountain Kings 3 @ New Jersey Titans 0: After a slow first period heading into the second the New Hampshire Jr Mountain Kings scored a goal by Tanner Anctil making the score 1-0. In the third period, the New Hampshire Jr Mountain Kings scored two more goals by Francis Gauvin, and Ryan Hiles making the final score 3-0. Manny Pantow saved 25 shots for the shutout and the win, while Avery Rovira-Hewitt saved 42 shots in the loss.

After a slow third heading into overtime, Josh Serino scored for the Minnesota Loons making the final score 4-3. Steven Kelley saved 45 shots for the win, while Devin Peck saved 16 shots in the loss.

Peoria Mustangs 4 @ Wisconsin Woodsmen 5 (OT): In the first period both teams scored a goal for the Peoria Mustangs it was Mason Buchanan, and for the Wisconsin Woodsmen it was Landen Schwantes making the score 1-1. In the second period, the Wisconsin Woodsmen scored two goals by Landen Schwantes, and Johnny Thrasher, and one goal for the Peoria Mustangs scored by Paul Allison making the score 3-2. In the third period, the Wisconsin Woodsmen scored a goal by Hugh Deninema, and two goals for the Peoria Mustangs scored by Massimo Polistina, and Johnny Switzer making the score 4-4. In overtime, Hugh Deninema scored for the Wisconsin Woodsmen making the final score 5-4. The unknown goalie saved 35 shots for the win, while Karson Yamada saved 41 shots in the loss.

Butte Irish 2 @ Bozeman Icedogs 5: After a slow first period we head into the second where the Bozeman Ice Dogs scored three goals by Dylan Miller, Braden Koliha, and Brodie Shepardson, and one goal for the Butte Irish scored by Corbin Breen making the score 3-1. In the third period, Bozeman Ice Dogs scored two more goals by Aidan Clements, and Chris Porciuncula, and one goal for the Butte Irish scored by Andrew Browe making the score 5-2. Sean Smer saved 16 shots and Issac Weatherford saved 12 shots for the win, while Keegan Strong saved 29 shots in the loss.

Gillette Wild 7 @ Sheridan Hawks 3: In the first period the Gillette Wild scored four goals two by Ryan Hipsag, and two by Adam Severson, and one goal for the Sheridan Hawks scored by Tanner Freed making the score 4-1. In the second period, the Gillette Wild scored two more goals scored by Ryan Hipsag giving him a hat trick, and one goal by Elliot Testa making the score 6-1. In the third period, the Gillette Wild scored a goal by Adam Severson giving him a hat trick, and two goals by the Sheridan Hawks scored by Ayden Attungana, and Kiefer Dunham making the final score 7-3.
