Cyclones and Woodsmen sweep weekend games

Wisconsin goalie Kirill Guryev stopped 56 of 59 shots in a weekend sweep of Oregon.

Friday, December 22

Wausau 4 @ Peoria 2 - Cyclones goalie Collin Lemanski made 44 saves to lead his team to a 4-2 road win in Peoria on Friday. Wausau jumped ahead 2-0 on goals from Connor Dvorak and Cullen Grahek. The Mustangs tied the game later in the contest with goals from Blake Mitchell and Anden Marceau. The Cyclones would pull away with goals from Jack Dawley and Anderson Brien. Travis Visvadra made 28 saves in the loss.

Wisconsin 5 @ Oregon 1 - Hugh Deninema had a hat-trick to lead the Woodsmen to a 5-1 win in Oregon on Friday. Deninema would scored twice in the 1st period and Jack Laser also added a goal to make it 3-0 for the Woodsmen. Cam Schneider scored for Oregon towards the end of the period to make it 3-1. In the 3rd period, Deninema would add his hat-trick and Viktor Budik also scored. Kirill Guryev made 34 saves in the win.

Saturday, December 23

Wausau 5 @ Peoria 1 - For a second straight night, it was all Cyclones as they got a four-point night from Connor Dvorak and two goals from Gabe Randel in a 5-1 win. Wausau controlled play from the start, jumping out to a 4-0 lead with two goals from Randel, one from Dvorak, and one from Garrett Freel. Peoria made it 4-1 on a goal from Ronnie Turano. John Kriz would add a 3rd period goal for Wausau to make it a 5-1 final. Brady Faille made 28 saves in the win.

Oregon 2 @ Wisconsin 5 - Nolan-James Mix scored two goals and added an assist as the Woodsmen completed a sweep of the Tradesmen with a 5-2 win on Saturday. Oregon opened the scoring with a goal from Reid Watson early in the 1st period. It was all Woodsmen after that as goals from Hunter Nelson and Nicholas O’Brien gave Wisconsin a 2-1 lead. In the 2nd period, the lead swelled to 5-1 as Wisconsin got three more goals from Caden McDonald and two from Mix. Bryce Stensrud would add the other goal for Oregon. Kirill Guryev picked up his second win of the weekend, making 22 saves.
