NA3HL Announces New Team in Binghamton, NY

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) has announced that its Board of Governors has approved the membership of the Binghamton Buzz.

The Buzz will be located in Binghamton, NY and will begin play in the NA3HL’s East Division beginning in the 2024-25 season. 

“The Passion of the hockey community here is unmatched,” President of Hockey Operations Ray Welsh said. “I am ecstatic to bring a quality junior hockey team with aspiring collegiate athletes back to the Binghamton community.” 

The team will be the affiliate with the North American Hockey League’s (NAHL) Elmira Aviators. Elmira is located just 56 miles to the east of Binghamton. 

“It’s exciting to see the NA family back in Binghamton for the 2024-25 season,” NAHL Commissioner and President Mark Frankenfeld said. “A team in New York is great for the league and all the players that get the opportunity to play for the Buzz, and having the same ownership as the Elmira Aviators there is no doubt players will get a chance to develop and advance to the NAHL or college hockey.”

The Ice Center at SUNY Broome Community College will serve as the Buzz’s home rink. The Ice Center is a state-of-the-art arena located on the campus of SUNY Broome Community College, and it is a staple in the upstate New York hockey community. 

The NA3HL is the only USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III Junior league and serves as one of the top training grounds in the country by providing the best coaching, exposure and developmental vehicles available for student-athletes in its classification. The NA3HL will be entering its 15th season of operation during the 2024-25 season. It is the only USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III junior hockey league.
